Three Die as Protests Kick Off Again at Gaza-Israel Fence
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 04/06/18 | Rory Jones

Thousands of Palestinians protested Friday at the fence dividing the Gaza Strip and Israel in a repeat of major demonstrations last week that turned deadly, as some burned tires that sent up massive plumes of smoke amid Israeli military gunfire.

Three Gazans died from live fire, including a 16-year-old, and dozens were injured by late afternoon, Palestinian health authorities and local media said. The Israel military said the army responded with gunfire and water cannons as Palestinians hurled firebombs at soldiers and attempted to infiltrate Israeli territory.

The demonstrations, which organizers say will continue for weeks, have presented Israel with a new military and political challenge as it aims to avoid a mass breach of the fence while also appeasing international calls to show restraint.

Palestinian health authorities have said at least 19 people were killed in last week’s demonstration and more than 1,400 injured, including 750 with live fire.

The new protests appeared quieter than the week before and Israel appeared to be using less tear gas to disperse Palestinians, according to people at the demonstrations.

The military had warned it would use gunshots to avoid a fence breach that would threaten Israeli lives. It distributed a video that appeared to show at least one Palestinian trying to cut the fence Friday, but it wasn’t clear if Israeli forces shot dead the perpetrator.

Ahead of Friday’s demonstration, the United Nations said Israeli forces should show “maximum restraint” and called on organizers not to put women and children in danger.

The White House representative to Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, Jason Greenblatt, urged protesters to march peacefully, abstain from violence and not approach the fence.

One way they could prevent death would be not to try to tamper with the border barrier.

If the philistines are serious about peace, they need to kill off Hamas and Fatah.

Abbas dosen't have the power to control the economy, electricity, food sources, borders, travel, medical care etc. of the Palestinians living in Gaza. If Abbas did ... then yes, they would probably rise up against *him* instead.

The Israelis built a border fence and it works. However I think this is foolish. Lay down a mine field with signs in many languages that says, “If you cross you will die.”

Relative to the USA border in 2017 we had about 300 illegal aliens die in the desert. Actually the number is much higher as many bodies still lay in the desert that were not discovered. What is more humane, a minefield that few would dare cross or the present open borders in the desert where illegals cross and die from the desert heat?

Minefields are cheap. Border walls are expensive. There are areas where minefields would not be practical and a border wall is essential such as where metropolitan areas on each side of the border abut each other like San Diego, El-Paso and the lower Rio Grand Valley of Texas. Many areas of the border of West Texas would need nothing as the area is isolated and extreme. A few would get through but not many and with drones they could be easily tracked and sent back.

We should have great big welcome gates for legal immigrants. All others should be excluded!

Reality is an ugly bitch!

ps
I am married to a wonderful Mexican lady from Mexico. She came here legally and attended our universities and has several degrees in the hard sciences. Her father did not pay out of state tuition. He paid out of country tuition which was even higher. That is the way it is supposed to work!

I'm sorry, but burning tires and throwing Molotov cocktails isn't a protest.

Napalm works.

I've been saying a fuel-air bomb. Kill more Gazans that way. Aerosol spray a gasoline vapor cloud, when they ignite the tires to burn them, then poof, problem solved.

Trust me, you are far more likely to be killed by Abbas and his thugs in Gaza than by having your power shut off for not paying your bill.

While I was there a young man was beaten to death on the beach for walking with his fiancé with only his little sister as an escort.

And a wedding party was gunned down with machine guns for... gasp... singing.

Gaza is in complete control by the elected representatives of the Arabs, the hell hole is exactly what they made it.

Israel needs an electrical option on its border fences where they are randomly electrified. When a Muzzie tries to cut through it he cannot know if the power is turned on or off. SPARKS will fly!
