My wife had a friend who married an NHL player. He was in Calgary at the time. One summer he signed with a team in the southern part of the US. The friend was putting away the clothes after the move.
Their three year old saw the snow suit laying on the bed. He freaked out saying I dont want to go back there!
I am going to guess that winter in Calgary might be a little cold.
You can draw a circle around Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and the whole eastern section of the country, and expect awful harsh winters.
Then you go up to Vancouver (on the western end) and it’s a totally different landscape and climate. I just don’t see many of these migrants staying after one of these winters.
You see the same thing in Finland. Migrants show up...weather it through to spring, and start discussing moving south. I suspect Iceland has the same issue for migrants as well.
