Yeah, it the the ammo costs that have kept me from buying a .458 SOCOM upper thus far, but having been a fan for large diameter, heavy bullets for a long time, I suspect I'll end up with one, even as a niche weapon. Reloading will likely be my best option on that.

I appreciate your remarks about the AR in 9mm. I'll have to give consideration to this!

Thanks for the reply! Best FRegards!

No problem.

A little warning regarding AR in 9mm. I went through a learning curve to get to a happy place with the 9mm. There are many options but if you don’t put all the pieces together correctly (correct buffers, springs, etc) you might experience failures to cycle or even damaged parts. There are way too many options on the market and of course its not mil-spec. I started with trying mods to a mil-spec AR lower, using the colt mags, and had all kinds of cycling challenges. Long story short, I finally found New Frontier Armory (see below). Glock mag compatible lower, side charging upper, and they can tell you exactly what BCG, buffer, and spring you need to avoid BCG or recoil system failure. I was able to repurpose most of the parts I experimented with earlier, and the NFA products are top notch. Usual lesson, you get what you pay for, right? Good luck if you try this.

Check out NFA:
