Roland Martin's name is cultural appropriation. Roland was Count of the Breton Marshes under Charlemagne whose death in 778 inspired The Song of Roland (a wildly inaccurate poem), and St. Martin of Tours was born in Pannonia (modern Hungary) and became bishop of a city in Gaul (modern France). If Roland Martin can't show any French or Hungarian ancestry, he should change his name.

That should read “Count of the Breton Marches” not “Marshes.”
