No, I’m looking forward to this movie. I don’t think, however, that it will answer a lot of questions. For one thing, I don’t think Kennedy was in the car at all. He got out, and left Mary Jo to drive (perhaps to the beach?) because he didn’t want to get stopped by Officer Look who spotted their car.
Kennedy was drunk. He had finished off 4 to 5 rum and cokes, beers etc in the few hours at the party. He probably blacked out completely and remembers nothing. This is a scary thing that happens to genetically based alcoholics. They realize in a panic that they can’t remember what they did the night before. Then when they find out, they’re speechless about it.
The last thing Kennedy remembered was probably leaving the party with her in his car.
So, how did he get back to his hotel? How did Markham and Gangen (? can’t remember his name), get back to the hotel from the party as well.
My thinking is that Kennedy either swam it, (although he was found dry as a bone by the hotel manager at 2:30am), or he/they took one of the many dingys that line the shoreline.
Interesting “defense” of Kennedy, resolves him of most of the fault.
Sorry I don’t buy it.
I was in Vienna at the time and remember very large headlines on a tabloid newspaper: ZWEI MONATE FU"R KENNEDY. I thought that meant he would actually have to serve two months in jail.
Mary Jo and Kennedy left the party to have sex.
They were seen arguing by officer Look.

It is impossible that Kennedy swam it. The people who saw him entering the hotel all said he was in dry clothes. They also said he looked relaxed. If Kennedy had swum to Martha’s Vineyard he would have been soaking wet and exhausted. People would have noticed. His drivers license which he handed over the next morning showed no sign of water marks.

That’s a possibility. I’ve always thought that they were both in the back seat of the car ~~~~~doing what I can’t imagine~~~~ and the parking brake wasn’t set and the car rolled off the bridge into the water. The only explanation for her to have been in the back seat.
His cousin was Joe Gargan and supposedly Kennedy SWAM back to Edgartown and tho’ I’ve read everything on this subject over the years, I don’t recall how the others made it back but they definitely WERE back in Edgartown at the hotel later. I don’t know if it’s ever been covered. They could have gotten back from the island when the ferry started running again in the morning.
It was always said that Kennedy had driven that road several times that day so was unlikely to have missed the turn to the bridge....
