If they request asylum they are entitled to a hearing under US law.
Those hearings take place on US soil and if history serves as a guide most will be released with a notice to appear at a later date. All perfectly legal.
When they don't show up for their hearings they'll lose their temporary legal status.
Someone needs to point Bret to the US Mexican hostilities 1914 to 1917. Wilson sent both regulars and federalized guard to the border in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona to defend against border incursions by bandits and federales.See the Plan de San Diego.
While I had differences in many things (No Child Left Behind, his “Bipartisanship”, “friendship” with Bill Clinton, and so on) I supported Bush in many aspects related to the prosecution of the war.
But one thing I could never reconcile with him was his inability or unwillingness to stand up and defend himself.
That just made me crazy. I hated it.

I want to think you are correct but too many years observing our politicians at work tell me they will not have real bullets and they will not use them any way.
The way to stop this is enforce the current laws and arrest all those sanctuary politicians. This country has three times the population we had when I was born, how many more poor people do we need?
