Threat to independent media worse than you know
WND ^ | 03/30/18 | Joseph Farah

I feel like the prophet Jeremiah. He was always the prophet I did not want to be when I grew up. He not only was the bearer of bad news to Israel, but he did not exactly live a mostly comfortable life – like Ezekiel and Daniel. But it’s been my misfortune to raise alarms about the devastating attacks by the Digital Cartel – Google-Facebook – on the independent media. They’ve been going on for a long time to be sure. But the scorched-earth policy began last summer – and it’s been killing sites like WND, Breitbart, Daily Caller, et al. Just this week, for instance, Politico published a story almost gleefully reporting that my friends at Breitbart.com have lost half their traffic and even more advertising during this siege by the politically motivated giants of the internet. Even if the reports are exaggerated, we’re talking about an imminent, existential threat to the biggest of the big independent media sites.

“Just so you understand, they are using their powerful search engines to deny us traffic and their hammerlock control of advertising to deny us revenue.”

In 1996 we had 1,100 broadcast media outlets for television. Today we have six. What a coincidence?/s

Surely our side includes some digital whizzes that can set up our own Facebook and Youtube substitutions. The scrubbed conservative sources can set up and connect to the several that might pop up and stay with the one that succeeds the best. Not being a geek I do not know what obstacles there are but from this point it seems doable. Advertising might be slow but it will come as conservatives finally remove themselves from the Communist digital Paradise of Facebookgoogle

They beat everyone to it and did their own.

The Drudge Report does not need FaceBook or Google.

If Drudge can run rings around these powerful internet entities then so can World Net Daily. It’s up to WND to figure out a better way to reach consumers. Stop relying on someone else to drive your traffic.

If "capitalism" is the rock the elites and libertarians believe in, why aren't there G-rated shows with traditional values? Or, google-ish sites that make millions for smart conservatives? Why doesn't Amazon have competition?

Why is WND and the rest not rolling in donations or at least lots of hits?

I don't get it.

It seems to me that Drudge hates President Trump. I hardly go there anymore.

Try this: https://thelibertydaily.com/

We should use these kind of sites as our source more often - drop CNN.

It would be good if Drudge and some wealthy conservatives could gather together the people to set up a search engine and a video platform to rival google and youtube. A lot of work but the need is crucial.

The leftists never let up. They continue pounding. When they appear to be quiet, we relax, but they are scheming always in the background. They are experts of making themselves look good and make us look bad when we are goos. We are too nice. Many non-leftists think the best of everyone, even our strongest enemies.

We need the ability to get the truth out but it will never happen with today's media. They will either deny or ignore.

thelibertydaily has the trashiest, lowlife advertisement I have ever seen on a conservative site. I guess they aren't big enough to draw useful sponsors.

I ignore the ads because I have no choice.

Why don't conservatives have choices?

I don’t get it either. I’ve been puzzling for a while now over why we cede so much ground to the left in the areas of art and communications and that sort of thing — the creative realms.

I don't think “sophisticated” people think wholesome and uplifting can live with artistic.

The threat to independent media lies from within. They are controlling rather than facilitating the content.

When you make up the news you aren't presenting the news and they haven't figured this out yet.

Right, there’s been a split between the virtuous and the artistic. We have artless virtue and they have virtueless art.
