My wife was slightly fascinated with the coverage and was watching the incident live through the Sacramento Bee. Protesters slowly moved out from in front of the two emergency vehicles, clearing a path for both vehicles, and as the second one moved to follow the first, the idiot walked out in front of the vehicle.
No rational person would have stopped at that moment, and it appeared the officers were responding to a call. Still unclear why the gal was carrying a laptop as well; I generally don’t protest while holding onto portable computer equipment of that size...
The old steam locomotives had “cow-catchers” mounted up front to plow farm and other wildlife off to the side of the tracks with as little harm as possible.
I think think there should be options on all emergency vehicles that such a thing can be extended out electrically with the push of a button.
At least the emergency services vehicle would have demonstrated every possible attempt to counter brazen stupidity and suicidal actions to avert legal binding.
“... the idiot walked out in front of the vehicle.”
People are stupid. If you have any doubts, search on “pedestrian crashes” on YouTube. Most videos are from Russia, but you’ll be left with the impression that everyone there is blind...both drivers and the pedestrians. Pedestrians don’t look before crossing the road; drivers don’t slow down.
