When it comes to obeying laws protecting personal information, Americans have less faith in Facebook than other tech companies.
Thats according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll. As Statistas Niall McCarthy notes, Facebook has been engulfed in a storm of criticism after it emerged that political consultancy Cambridge Analytica harvested and exploited the personal information of 50 million of its users. The firm is trying to restore its badly tarnished image with CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently issuing a public apology. Judging by the findings of the poll, the social network certainly has serious work to do in order to restore confidence in its user base.
The research found that only 41 percent of Americans trust Facebook to obey U.S. privacy laws, far less than other tech companies known to gather user data.
66 percent of respondents said they trust Amazon, 62 percent trust Google and 60 percent trust Microsoft. Apple and Yahoo! were also ahead of Facebook in the trust stakes. The evaporation of trust among its users wasnt the only headache for Facebook in recent days.

Good morning.
What’s worst is the majority of people don’t trust the FBI.

“62 percent trust Google”
It seems that there are more hard lessons that need to be learned.
Over 10 years ago, we were warned by our gov’t customer that installing FB left your hard drive vulnerable to undetectable use by foreign agents.
Has nothing to do with ID theft.
You simply became a server for whatever they wanted.
Yup.
I use DuckDuckGo
As do I.
Yep. Over and over and over again.

Whats worst is the majority of people dont trust the FBI.
The FBI has worked very hard over the years to earn the mistrust of the American people.
I feel like such an idiot. Facebook has my silhouette. No telling what they are going to do with it.
...but they’ll still post pictures of their dinner platters.
I listened to a discussion recently on the radio about social media; one of the participants said social media would always be with us but it would change significantly - because too many users experienced negative feelings about it (could be caused by many things, I guess). My teens and their friends all describe Facebook as for “old people” - and that is the kiss of death in that industry. They’ll be the “MySpace” of this decade...
Me too.
I also don’t use any free services such as credit karma. They have to make money somewhere so I figure it’s off me.
