I would never say anything to the FBI or any police officer under oath. It is always a trap. If you tell the police something as a concerned citizen, they should be willing to accept your statement without putting you under oath.

After Gen. Flynn's experience, saying anything at all to the Bureau, no matter how insignificant, may put you in jeopardy. Everyone should assume that they already have the answer to any question they ask you. Their conniving tactic is to trip you up so they can accuse you of lying to them. Then, they will threaten you with this non-substantive ‘lie’ to get you to rat out a friend or associate who is their real target. Worse yet, if you have nothing to offer them on who they are after, they will nonetheless screw you by pressing forward on the totally innocuous and bogus felony lying charge. That is the Flynn lesson.
