They just want to be the next weed millionaire...
They really are obnoxious.
Certainly then Bob Marley.
jammin in the name of the Lord
When a study says we know so little about dope, it’s a bogus study. Especially when it’s “a fresh look” at old data.
Right after high school, decades ago, a good number of my friends went hardcore pothead. It made all of them stupid. There was clearly organic damage, as even long after they sobered up, the were slower than before. I do not buy the ‘harmless weed’ theory. Booze, weed, exposure to solvents - it doesn’t matter. Don’t be stupid with a substance which will make you even more stupid.
Exactly.
One wonders who paid for this study.
Here on FR the pot libertarians will usher you to a table.

MJ is far less harmful than the addictive drugs pushed by the pharmaceutical industry for pain. However, there isn’t a lot of money to be made by the pharmaceutical companies selling MJ. That is why they still push it to be a Schedule 1 drug. Not its actual effects, but because of the money. Same with the police. Legalize MJ, no seizure of homes, cars, money for having a doob.
If any pothead stops using, they return back to normal very soon. I’ve led many meetings for people struggling with addictions and this was always the case. Not so with the permanent damage from alcohol, opiods and stimulants (all legal and prescribed like candy).
People are likely to use pot more constantly than booze because it has no hangover effect. They never feel sick or get injured from overdoing it. So yes, some people are eternally stoned because they feel no consequences from it and actually enjoy using it 24/7.
If they ever feel like stopping for whatever reason, they feel no withdrawal and become fully normal again within 1 week.
i never said it caused mental illness.
This article is so blatantly false.
Science has shown the harmful effects, but hey, who cares about science? Climate change and cannabis for everyone!
There are some drugs that should probably not be illegal (ie cannabis) there are some drugs that should probably be ok for limited use in certain types of psychotherapy (mdma) and there are drugs that have no legitimate use and should probably remain illegal (heroin, meth).
Then there are drugs that are certainly damaging, but might well find themselves a pathway to legality depending on societal influences within the next 20 or so years (cocaine).
There are drugs that are certainly VERY damaging, but are legal because of social pressure (alcohol, cigarettes).
I can understand certain arguments on all sides. I can understand how some people want to see ALL drugs legal (this makes sense from a libertarian standpoint) and I can understand how some people think that NO drugs should be legal (from a conservative or even puritan standpoint) but the one that I have a hard time understanding are the people who are OK with booze and cigs being legal but don’t think that cannabis should be. (which is perhaps a personal failing to understand, as there are a lot of people that seem to fall in this catagory)
When there is a high demand for something, and we make that something illegal, the demand drives the black market. For years the vast majority of cannabis that was coming into the US was coming from other countries like Mexico and that’s where the profits went. In the past six years or so there’s been a bunch of US states who have legalized cannabis, and the profit from that tends to stay in the local state economy of the state where the cannbis origiates rather than getting sent back to Mexico to pay for El Chupacandra’s new marble steps in his drug villa.
From your profile:
I have seen the effects of communism first hand and I feel that the statists and leftists want to take us down that terrible path.
.............................
I have seen the long-term effects of marijuana use. I will trust my eyes over any study. And you have willfully become a dupe in the leftist plans that you decry.
It’s becoming obvious these days that any study can tailor the results.
Is that a photo of pencil neck Hogg boy ten years from now?
I find it curious, this push to normalize and legalize marijuana usage, by people who would recoil at the thought of cigarette smoking or drinking alcohol. I see the usefulness of a nation filled with stoners to the left, all they’ll want to do is sit around, eat junk food, listen to music and screw. Can’t go reproducing though, that’d harsh their mellow. Before anyone freaks out, I’ve used it in the past. Pleasant enough for a while, then it started inducing paranoia which I didn’t like so I stopped. There are legitimate medical uses, but those legitimate medical uses are not an excuse to promote casual or recreational use. There will be health effects on a par with cigarettes and alcohol, in my opinion. Maybe not the very same health effects, but they’ll be there. Don’t fool yourself.
