One year I got the American Community Survey. I answered very few questions ( which generated in-person visits from somebody with a cli-board)
The instructions for inputing Race include a sample. It said something to the effect that, using one letter per box, please input Race as such - RACE, so that’s what I did. I wrote in RACE.

Someone should tell Trump to add “American” to the options. Then start a campaign to get everyone who’s sick of all this identity politics to check that box. It would be damned interesting to see the result.
