Attorneys for Noor Salman, the wife of Pulse nightclub killer Omar Mateen, moved to dismiss the charges or declare a mistrial on Sunday night after the prosecution revealed on Saturday that Mateen’s father, Seddique Mateen, worked as an FBI informant from 2005 through the summer of 2016.

According to defense lawyers, Assistant U.S. Attorney Sara Sweeney sent them an email on Saturday night that revealed Seddique Mateen was a confidential FBI source and is also under investigation for suspicious money transfers to Turkey and Afghanistan, based on documents that were discovered in his home on the day of the nightclub massacre. Noor Salman’s trial had already been in progress for a week when this disclosure was made

Mateen was also part of the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign. He attended a rally for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign less than two months after the Pulse massacre and was seated directly behind the candidate during a speech.

Mateen also did media appearances for Clinton. He also held signs he made supporting Clinton.

I don’t see how this is relevant to the case at hand?

Maybe they’re saying that she couldn’t have driven him around if the FBI had arrested him three years ago, but didn’t because his father was helping them?

Thr relevance eludes me. Isn’t she on trial because of what she did, or didn’t know about her husbands activities? And what she did or didn’t do about it?

Seddique Mateen, worked as an FBI informant from 2005 through the summer of 2016.

I'll bet the Vegas killer had FBI connections ... and Dylann Roof? The old guy killer and Dylann's through the Southern Poverty Law Center?

Large Home Grown Communist Cell in the FBI? It's starting to look possible...

Yep, Hogg's father is retired FBI. Starting to see a pattern here?

Failure to reveal exculpatory evidence to the defense before trial is grounds for a mistrial. The prosecution listed the father as a prosecution witness. They would be required to reveal all relevant information that they had to the defense. Obviously they didn’t.

The Justice department is being run by incompetent clowns.

That’s not an excuse - she could’ve informed the authorities as well and didn’t.
The point is - she’s being tried as complicit in the crime. “My father in law should’ve stopped us” is not a defense.

How is any of this “exculpatory?”

I believe POTUS and his inner circle know just how horrifically evil the rogue elements of gov’t were and are.

But if citizens were actually told the whole truth and nothing but the truth, would they accept it?

Make a list of killers - AND their connections to either the FBI or the Southern Poverty Law Center...

Could be a large powerful (home grown - not Russian controlled anymore) communist group within the FBI... this kind of stuff takes more thought and ‘organization’ than happens naturally.

It’s similar to thinking large ‘protest’ spring up naturally - rather than the truth: that they’re highly organized with paid professionals behind them...

That said I feel Hogg is only reflecting his father’s political beliefs - - beliefs that ‘disarming’ citizens is a good idea. I don’t see any connection beyond that... Now the sheriff? He’s highly political and connected to Bernie and Hillary... was he FBI trained at Quantico? Then there’s the FBI “mistake” - - not checking the killer out. Sheriff didn’t do squad either... There could be some mind control tactics involved ... seems weak... maybe worth looking at.

Is there ever “good” news from the FBI?

The FBI seems to think that hide-the-ball is part of their agency’s mandate. Well, phooey!

Kalamata - I don't think anyone 'knows' ... we see results - we see patterns - dots - and statistical impossibilities... some of it adds up ... some doesn't.

How is any of this “exculpatory?”

It directly relates to his credibility. Everyone is now aware that the FBI lies as a matter of course.

That is for the court to determine. There will be a hearing on this issue and the judge will determine whether the withholding of this information was prejudicial to the defense. They can then determine if there is a remedy which could be as little as a jury instruction or as bad as a prosecution caused mistrial, which would close out any retrial.

This is the same Justice Department that screwed up the Bundy trial.

This seems to be endemic.

Then her lawyers can deal with that when they cross-examine him. His status as a former FBI informant doesn’t have any material value as exculpatory evidence.

More blood on the FBI’s hands. They have replaced ISIS, al-Qaeda, the Mexican cartels and MS-13 as the worst terrorists.

I’m not surprised at all. With a lot of these shootings, they go out of their way to enable the murderers and to stand down when it’s all happening. It’s pretty clear it’s what they want so they can use these incidents to get their precious gun bans.

This is the same Justice Department that screwed up the Bundy trial.

So the DoJ is incompetent at prosecuting both the good and the bad...

“I don’t see how this is relevant to the case at hand?”

She is saying drop the charges and end the trial or I will tell the public what the DOJ and FBI have really been doing and how they are working to help terrorists.
