FTC confirms it's investigating Facebook
The Hill ^ | 3/26/2018 | Harper Neidig

Posted on 03/26/2018 8:18:24 AM PDT by bitt

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on Monday confirmed that it had opened an investigation into Facebook’s privacy practices following reports that data from 50 million users landed in the hands of a political consulting firm without their consent.

Tom Pahl, the acting FTC bureau chief for consumer protection, said in a statement that the agency would be investigating whether the incident constituted a violation of a 2011 agreement that Facebook signed to settle charges over other privacy concerns.

“Companies who have settled previous FTC actions must also comply with FTC order provisions imposing privacy and data security requirements,” Pahl said. “Accordingly, the FTC takes very seriously recent press reports raising substantial concerns about the privacy practices of Facebook.”

It seems they were harvesting text messages from Android phones if you had the facebook app. Clearly an invasion of privacy that is irrefutable.

Privacy is apparently not in the Constitution, nor the Facebook EULA

That’s what I thought too with his sucking up full page ad. Seems to me what he did was identity theft, computer fraud and racketeering on a global scale.

Did the new law really prohibit Congre$$its from buying or selling stock due to Insider Trading?

Or did a Congressional friend of FB warn them that this $torm was heading their way?

The truth about Congress and financial conflicts!:

Excerpted: For full story go to the link below.

Politico found a similarly disturbing trend in both chambers of Congress. Politico identified about 30 percent of members of the House and Senate who are currently active in the stock market. Several of these members play in the markets over which they have some direct legislative responsibility — in some cases, even sponsoring legislation that could have a direct bearing on their stock investments.

Just as problematic, many congressional senior staffers — who have been removed from public scrutiny of their stock-trading activities when Congress eliminated the comprehensive disclosure requirement of the Stock Act — are also trading stocks in industries their bosses directly oversee. edLast year, three members of the Senate Judiciary Committee asked the Justice Department whether the drug company Mylan was violating federal drug laws. Nine days later, the Justice Department agreed and levied a massive settlement penalty against the company. After the letter and before the settlement, a senior staffer to the Judiciary Committee dumped between $4,004 and $60,000 of Mylan stock investments.

(hat tip Oldexpat) Facebook's takeover by the Obama campaign is one thing. Does it also mean Obama's NSA and other US intel agencies are hard-wired to F/B?

<><> what exactly did Zuckerberg do to help Obama (and Hillary) get elected?

<><>did Obama (and Hillary) get F/B users personal info?

<><> are US intel agencies in cahoots with Zuckerburg?

We MUST determine this ASAP.

==================================

ANALYSIS---Obama's police state ran roughshod over Americans. No doubt, he also surveilled Democrats, to get info to enforce loyalty to him......
Remember O/Care's straight party line Dem vote? Democrats marching in lockstep, echoing Obama word-for-word?

How'd Obama do that?

This is still Obama’s FTC, isn’t it? I mean, that’s supposed to be why they’re waiting for Trump’s guys to get there in order to initiate antitrust proceedings, right?

In which case, this is just like the Mueller/Russia thing—only meant to go after the speck in Trump’s eye and ignore the log in Hillary’s.

What?? Do you mean to tell me, that a social networking website that exists entirely so that it can:
  1. Collect and monetize your personal private information, and
  2. Sell your eyeballs to the highest bidder, and
  3. Deluge you with unwanted marketing spam, and
  4. Store anything you post FOREVER even if you try to delete it,
... might actually provide your private information to a third party???

HORRORS!! I'M SHOCKED!! SHOCKED!!!

/s

Thanks for the ping, bitt. This news isn't really a Windows item per se, but let's see how the comments accumulate, maybe it'll get ping-worthy as it goes.
