We are suffering from a large-scale culture clash in the United States. Strains of anxiety and vitriol pervade our daily discourse where wed be better served with laughter and congeniality.
So why are we so divided? What is feeding it?
A good touchstone for where we are and where we are heading as a society is our college campuses. This May, Bostons streets will be clogged with U-Haul trucks driven by the parents of newly minted college graduates packing up and heading home. Honest-to-goodness adults, ready to take on the world

Jerry Seinfeld quit colleges, and his stuff is mild. ... Its frightening, said Boston comedy legend Steve Sweeney. You can judge or you can laugh, but you cant do both at the same time.
Exactly. This seems like an excellent time for us to holster the judgment and do more laughing. Throughout the culture.

Not from what I’ve seen.

Harvard and Yale grads? Not so much “take on” as “f*** up”
Age is not the sole predictor of adulthood.
Obviously, the college campus is supposed to be a microcosm of the grander landscape, but it they have turned into Radical Leftists Training Camps. When you have administrators and professors that can’t lose their jobs, don’t really do a lot to earn a check-as they have grad students doing a lot of their work for them, and live in the liberal bubbles of the campus and college towns that are normally, serene little oasis’, it’s not hard to understand why they churn out what they do.
My solution: Give it to them. Put up a wall around all of them. Let them live out their liberal fantasy utopia withing the confines of those walls and boundaries. Let them take care of all the immigrants and refugees, they all supposedly love. Hell, let them have a few cities, which they pretty much do already. And then, make the deal of a lifetime. You folks do what you want to do and the rest of us will do what we want to do. We won’t come and bother you, eat at your restaurants, shop at your stores, send our kids to your schools, as long as you reciprocate. You want to grant sanctuary to any and everyone, go right ahead.
Wonder how long they’d last.

Exactly — where’s the evidence? What jobs are they taking their “* Studies” graduates to take? And Starbucks doesn’t count!!
Who will put a stop to open free speech everywhere?
Lastly, when and where will they be given their participation awards?
Humans learn via education and experience.
These kids have limited ‘experience’ of life (or anything else) and as ‘students’, by definition...their education is incomplete.
Sow tell me again HOW on earth they reach practical, reasoned, mature conclusions about ANYTHING?
Infants and drunks reach ‘conclusions’ JUST like these kids do. They decide everything based on:
What I know (Incomplete education)
What I feel (Limited experience)
In my earlier years every single mistaken, disastrous and personally embarrassing conclusion I have ever reached, was based on what I felt and what I knew at the time
I called myself an adult when I finally admitted TO myself that the common denominator in every stupid, uncomfortable, embarrassing, ruinous outcome of mine was that, I WAS THERE!
At that point, I knew I had a lot to learn. I decided to SHUT MY MOUTH and keep my emotions OUT of my reasoning!
Its been 99% better ever since.
I hope that's a gag, and not a sober observation.
Post of the thread! Well said.
Pampered children who NEVER had want of anything (there’s more to it - see link below).
Paglia has laid waste to this growing issue as does Jordan Peterson, it’s long... it’s boring at times, but there is a lot of meat on the various bones these two take to gnawing at:
