As an intake interviewer for a local non-profit food bank, I can testify to the massive food stamp fraud.

I speak with folks quite frequently who are very open about the fraud they are committing. Although they do not consider it fraud. It’s just a way of ‘helping me get along.’

One fav is buying expensive meats and fish, paying for them with food stamps, and then selling the goods in their neighborhood for $.50 on the dollar. That way they are helping their neighbors as well as themselves. It’s all legal as far as they are concerned.

I see three possible solutions:

1. Enact a ‘gotta be employed to get food stamps’ law. I have read anecdotal reports where states have done this and seen a large decline in food stamp recipients.

2. Further restrict the types of food stuffs covered by food stamps. As an example, ground hamburger meat would be okay, fillet mignon would not. Be ready for the lawsuits with this idea. BLM will not be okay with this I’m sure.

3. Enact very strict laws with real punishment (prison) for merchants who knowingly help food stamp recipients with their fraud.

I’m sure there are many other solutions as well.

Thanks for posting your first hand knowledge of this scam by many. This is only one example of the eight years of 0bama and his flunkies doing real damage to the nation.

There definitely has to be action taken against abusers and I’ve read the Trump administration has gotten some results already but much more needs to be done.
