The data firm used by the Trump campaign, Cambridge Analytica, is taking its turn in the eyes of many as the villain responsible for the apocalyptic outcome of the presidential election of 2016. Others, of course, have included Russia and the Electoral College system, but progressives are especially distressed about this one.
That a crude and brutish outfit like the Trump campaign could use their data-mining tools and politically allied platforms like Facebook against them adds extra sting to the wound of the loss.

Social media sites may know everything about you. Gary Miliefsky, executive producer of Cyber Defense Magazine, laid bare the chilling facts on Boston Herald Radio yesterday, Facebook has more data on you than the NSA.
No one should like that.
.. a crude and brutish outfit like the Trump campaign could use their data-mining tools and politically allied platforms like Facebook against them...
However, when Democrats do the same thing in the 2012 election, it’s “sophisticated and efficient.”
They are the thugs.
Social networks are about mining data and selling data.
Anyone who is on a social network should get off of it, just out of self-respect.
I caught Facebook connecting phone numbers I dialed and locations to “suggest friends.” At least at that time Facebook said they didn’t look at such data. The circumstances were calling designers and senior retail managers on commercial construction sites all over the Midwest.
22 Mar: Variety: Steve Bannon Defends Fire and Fury, Slams CNN and Facebook, Deflects Cambridge Analytica Questions
By Cynthia Littleton
Speaking at the Financial Times Future of News conference in New York, Bannon careened through a range of topics in a combative interview with Financial Times editor Lionel Barber. Bannon also vigorously defended President Donald Trumps track record, calling him the greatest orator weve had since William Jennings Bryant....
But when pressed about his investment in Cambridge Analytica, Bannon pointed fingers in the other direction, including the use of Facebook data in 2008 by the Obama campaign.
Theres a marketplace for your data its being sold every day, he said. He would not comment on his thoughts about Cambridge Analytia CEO Alexander Nix, and asserted that the issues in the spotlight at present were rooted in the activity of a related firm, SCL, based in Britain and run by Brits.
He said the focus on Cambridge Analytica and its work with the Trump campaign stems from the unwillingness of the political establishment to acknowledge that Trump won the election.
The progressive left and opposition media cannot get over one basic fact: Donald J. Trump is President. He beat Hillary (Clinton) and he beat her badly. Bannon asserted that investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion among Trump campaign officials is a bid to delegitimize Trumps win. You struck out on Russia so now youve got to go to Cambridge Analytica, he said...
Zuckerbergs entire business model is built on taking that data for free and monetizing it, and then writing algorithms on a wall that treat you like a hamster on a wheel, Bannon said...
Earlier in the day, CNN Worldwide chief Jeff Zucker spoke at the conference and slammed Fox News for being too cozy with the Trump administration, calling it a pure propaganda machine.
Bannon responded: You cant name a more propaganda outfit than CNN. Did anybody at CNN get fired for the awful mess they made of the 2016 campaign, which was a disgrace to journalism? No. That is a propaganda outfit. Every night its hate Trump.

What is most concerning is the the concern, because... Trump. I really don't care if Facebook knows all about me or not. I'd rather not enrich them, but I have no choice as an officer in an organization hosted on Facebook (I am forced to keep a personal account). But really, who gives an FF about who knows which posts you "like". For example my pro-Trump and pro-gun feelings are not hidden, nor would I want them to be.
Many companies before they hire an individual check their Facebook page and they check the Facebook pages of their friends. So you might have opinions that are OK but you have friends who offend your employer. Guess what you dont get the job.
So my advice is on Facebook always do things to throw them off. Celebrate Earth Day, party on the solstice, and discuss buying an electric vehicle. Why tell em you like Michelle in 2020.
