Yes, I totally agree. It requires the ability to shoot and the sense of knowing when force is the only resort.

Some people you know will surprise you how well they handle both of those requirements. They do not suffer from the typical stereotype police mindset. Most police officer are good people, Texas is blessed with many. Once in a while a clinker shows up. They usually don’t last long.

A similar incident occurred at a local high school years ago.

At gunpoint the 125 pound female deputy got the drop on the would be shooter and cuffed him with no shots actually fired.

The policy went in to effect after columbine nad has worked well to protect the schools

“All the gun laws in the universe could not have prevented the Florida High School massacre. Sad...Go figure...I can’t.”

Yes, but passing more “punish only the law-abiding laws” will get the hysterical parents and other citizens off the backs of the pols long enough for the pols to finish out their “do nothing right” careers.

No, St. Mary’s County is still basically rural, although it receives a considerable boost from the nearby Pax River Naval Air Station and wealth creeping in from D.C, about seventy-five miles away.

If so (and I have no reason to doubt your report), that follows the conventional wisdom that when confronted during their rampages, the perps tend to terminate themselves, ending their script with “game over”.

It’s a good argument for why even a single officer should engage the nutcases as soon as possible.

Regardless, if the perp offed himself, he did it because he was engaged with thte SRO and did not want to be taken. Most shooters in these situation kill until confronted, or they run out of easy targets. Then they suicide.

By confronting the perp, whether he hit him or not, the SRO saved lives. Period.

No argument from me. I think the resource officer is a hero.

>> MD is not a gun friendly environment <<

But St. Marys County is not typical of the state. It’s a conservative area, with lots of navy personnel, Amish and former tobacco farmers.

Headline we never thought we would see on CNN.com:
This incident may be the one that changes the tone on future school shootings, especially after the near-do-nothings inactions at Parkland, FL. Armed personnel in schools can/does work.

Let’s hope so. We need a little sanity. It won’t come from the left.

I guess this is why it’s not trending news ... shooter was eliminated by a guy with a gun.

Unfortunately it is possibly true.

I was told today, the School Resource Officer fired at the shooter but did not hit him, that the shooter fired at the School Resource Officer and also missed. That the shooter shot and badly injured the young girl and a ricochet hit the young man that was also injured. It was said the shooter shot himself.

I inquired as to the source, and it was one I would absolutely accept as fact. Visual and from police involved.

Just the same. When a threat of return fire, the shooters generally either kill themselves or surrender.

Levin says this one is gonna drop off the radar fast. Doesn’t fit the lib. narrative.

School shooters tend to do this. When they realize the jig is up, they eat their barrel. They are 100% USDA cowards.
