Former U.S. Rep. Charles Djou says he is leaving the Republican Party.
Djou, in a column written for the online news site Civil Beat today, cited the partys leadership under President Donald Trump as the main reason that led to his decision.
Djou wrote,Today after much consideration, I abandon my party because I am unwilling to abandon my principles. I can no longer stand with a Republican Party that is led by a man I firmly believe is taking the party of Lincoln in a direction I fundamentally disagree with, and a party that is unwilling to stand up to him.

I’m surprised there are any Republicans in Hawaii. The place is a dump when it comes to politics.
It’s Trump that I meant was getting the job done. Starting to think there are no balls left in the republican party outside of the White House.
Another idiot.
Please list the principles that he is claiming that he has and that Trump allegedly lacks.
Charles who? Charles Dijon? Was he heir to the French Mustard fortune and was bought up by John Kerry’s Heitz Ketchup consortium. Charles, hmm... Well, if you can mustard a policy as successful as Trump, maybe you can ketchup to the American people, who don’t relish the thought of you trying to wiener your way into their life and cause them more pain (Fr).
Djount let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!
Good riddance.
I just paid Mr. Dijou a visit on his facebook page. He is a RINO/Democrat through and through. His opinions on Trump read like CNN.
I wish someone would ask these people “Just what is Trump doing that you disagree with?”
Those who leave the party like this, were never one of us anyway.
This amounts to a Democrat who mis-registered as a Republican, correcting their error.
Excellent!
What is supposed to make us sad and change our minds, makes us happy and more determined that ever.
Wish these folks would take others with them.
The single most important reason why I'll never again set foot in Hawaii.I saw it once....glad I did.But IMO Florida is superior to Hawaii in every way...including politically.
He cannot leave what he was not really a part of anyway.

Gee, no wonder I had no clue who he was, nor do I care what party he supports.
Good.
This is part of an open letter Dijou gave just before the GOP 2016 Caucus in Hawaii:
“I am disappointed in President Obamas constant application of unconstitutional executive privilege and his preference to divide Americans for partisan political gain. Mr. Trump, however, promises to out-do Obama. I believe America needs a President who respects our nations constitution and the separation of powers. But Mr. Trump repeatedly stated that if elected President he will approach the position of Commander-in-Chief as an autocrat that reigns with an unmatched disregard for American precedent and practice. His admiration for dictators like Russias Vladimir Putin and comfort in quoting despots like Benito Mussolini is utterly disturbing and in discord with our American values.”
He ended this open letter with these words:
“Tomorrow night, I hope you will join me in making your voice heard by voting in the Hawaii GOP Presidential caucus. You can find the polling locations here. I hope you support my favored candidate, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, but I also hope that you will join me in the growing movement: #NeverTrump.”
I think that Dijou knew that a Trump Presidency would drain the swamp and that the great hog trough in Washington DC would have no more slop for Dijou and his money laundering friends.
LOL! I think you nailed it!
