The response to Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ firing of former Deputy FBI director has been mixed from most Republicans. However, today on ‘Sunday Morning Futures,’ Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) praised the decision saying it was necessary.
“Well I think the Attorney General did the right thing. It was the appropriate decision given the reports of his having leaked internal information to the media and then giving false information about that misleading information to those investigating the matter. These are very serious concerns and they tie into the overall concern about how the FBI handled investigations into the elections last year, so the steps are appropriate,” said Rep. Goodlatte.
As Matt noted on Friday, “McCabe was cited for improperly disclosing the friction between the Department of Justice and the FBI over the investigation into the Clinton Foundation to The Wall Street Journal, and for misleading investigators when questioned about it in a DOJ inspector general report. Due to this revelation, the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility recommended his termination.
"In a statement, Attorney Jeff Sessions explained why he decided to terminate McCabe effective immediately:
After an extensive and fair investigation and according to Department of Justice procedure, the Department’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) provided its report on allegations of misconduct by Andrew McCabe to the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR).
The FBI’s OPR then reviewed the report and underlying documents and issued a disciplinary proposal recommending the dismissal of Mr. McCabe. Both the OIG and FBI OPR reports concluded that Mr. McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor - including under oath - on multiple occasions.
The FBI expects every employee to adhere to the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and accountability. As the OPR proposal stated, “all FBI employees know that lacking candor under oath results in dismissal and that our integrity is our brand.”
Pursuant to Department Order 1202, and based on the report of the Inspector General, the findings of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility, and the recommendation of the Department’s senior career official, I have terminated the employment of Andrew McCabe effective immediately.
Rep. Goodlatte also condemned former CIA Director's John Brennan statement on Saturday in which he called the president a "disgraced demagogue."as overwrought. Rep. Goodlatte said that all Republicans and Democrats should be concerned with what occurred at the FBI during investigations into Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
Rep. Goodlatte's full interview can be watched here.
McCabe needs to be criminally charged as does Comey. Strzok & Page need to be fired as well. So many more people need to be held accountable.
Any Republican much less any Congressman who criticizes the firing of mccabe which was recommended by the office of professional responsibility is an absolute disgrace.
I’m sure many of us agree at least one of those last two should be criminally-charged as well. Sounds like he was using his position to campaign for Hillary via “investigations”.
McCabe must be charged to shut Backstabbers like Rubio and Graham up.
Flynn had to sell his house to pay lawyers they didnt say a word about that.
I’m still waiting for the congressional committees to interview Strzok, Page, Priestap and all the rest of them.
>>>lacked candor - including under oath - on multiple occasions<<<
And McCabe doesn’t even have a Uterus.
Good.
Be sure to reelect him.
“Sunday Morning Futures”
Notice the supporters show up on the obscure shows. While asshats like Flake get the big stage.
“Flynn had to sell his house to pay lawyers they didnt say a word about that.”
This is what is so disgusting. McCabe loses part of his retirement benefits (mostly medical). But keeps most of his pension.
Flynn, Gates are wiped out financially and forced into guilty pleas, and there is no crocodile tears for them from these globalist, Swamp assh@ts !
The texts between Strzok and Page reflect an attitude of totally unaccountable power which is reflected in how all these FBI Deep Staters operated.
They think they can do anything they want to their enemies, break the law, cover it up, use the letter of the law to the fullest against their targets, but not be accountable themselves.
Trump should fire the entire FBI and start over !
Hopefully every day, Strzok & Page are spending the whole day being questioned about every “scandal”. As employees they can be told to submit to the questioning.
I think Hil offered to appoint McCabe FBI director if she got off scot free. If she had dumped Comey the Dems. would have applauded her decision.
“Be sure to reelect him.”
Bob Goodlatte is retiring at the end of this term.
He is 65 and has been in congress since 1993, 28 years.
Well, that and the $700,000 her people gave McCabe via his wife’s bogus state legislature campaign.
Imagine if she got in. All these crimes would be buried and all the criminals, including Comey would still be on the gov’t paycheck.
People in government go down in history as corrupt ONLY if they are over thrown. If they appoint their friends or relatives to follow in their footsteps history doesn’t record them as corrupt. And that’s why they KNOW they must stop Trump.
He will NEVER finish this Inquisition. Yes, I said Inquisition. It's not an investigation, never was.
He will keep this up until the 2018 midterms, and after.
Muellers objective is a coup d'etat. And his coup partners are TRAITORS.
Gowdy is so disappointing, so stupid, so wrong! I can't eMail him, cause I live in PA.
bump
Last Refuge, some weeks back, claimed that Gowdy’s net worth has jumped by millions just in the last couple of years.
