The Defense Department is just as bloated, if not more so, as any other federal department. Why can’t we see how the money is spent now before handing out more? Politics governs defense spending, not military need.

Here is GA, some support the FEDs paying to deepen the Savannah Searport for more containers from Asia. Supporters claim the project will pay for itself in 3 to 5 years.

If it will pay for itself then Fed money is not needed. It should be strictly a local decision and local money. Indeed, if it will pay for itself, then let the private sector do it.

Why should the FEDs subsidize imports from Asia?

Likewise in CA the Feds want to throw money at a dam project. But CA politicians want the Feds to throw money at the high speed rail project. Both are local and should be financed locally. Why should we subsidize any local project?
