Pennsylvania special election will be decided by absentee ballots
American Thinker ^ | March 14, 2018 | Thomas Lifson

According to the Pennsylvania secretary of state's tally, Democrat Conor Lamb leads Republican Richard Saccone by 579 votes, less than half the total of 1,372 votes received by the Libertarian candidate. The razor-thin 0.26% lead could vanish if Saccone manages to get a little over 60% of the absentee votes that remain to be counted.

Allegheny County's absentee ballots are included in that count, but the absentee ballots in the three other counties in the district have yet to be counted: 1,195 in Washington County, 1,808 in Westmoreland County, and 203 in Greene County, for a total of 3,204 absentee ballots yet to be counted.

The article reports that Saccone needs 60% of the absentee ballots in his favor. Not insurmountable.

Absentee ballots are rarely even counted, if the election has been of sufficient margin that the votes would not have made a crumb’s worth of difference. But now there is plenty of opportunity to challenge just about every one of these absentee ballots, on virtually any pretext, depending on who is doing the final count.

Fraud is not only stuffing the ballot box, but also with suppressing or denying the vote was even legitimately cast.

Perhaps fortunately (or unfortunately), this district is to be abolished before the election in November 2018.

An exercise in futility.

Re: Dem specialty:

Votes in a box. It’s like Christmas!

Still, one could wish that Saccone had been a stronger, more lively candidate.

The remaining counties are GOP strongholds.

Saccone needs to win 60% of the outstanding absentee ballots to win.

At the moment, he’s still in the hunt. Democratic Allegheny is all in.

Aren't there reports of people being turned away from voting in some Republican precincts?

THE DEMONRATS CHEATED.

AS ALWAYS.

“The razor-thin 0.26% lead could vanish if Saccone manages to get a little over 60% of the absentee votes that remain to be counted.”

Looking at the District, 60% is not out of reach and actually very probable as many of the early absentee ballots will go to Saccone as the race only trended to Lamb closer to the election.

I am curious as to their counts of absentee ballots in each county. Westmoreland County delivers all absentee ballots received by election day morning to the various precincts to be opened and counted after the polls close.

Anything later which is still valid (postmarked by election day) gets counted by the county canvassing board. These would typically number less than 10% of the total absentee ballots reported. We were one of the larger precincts in Westmoreland County and Saccone carried us by roughly a 3-2 margin, but that was less than the 2-1 margin by which Trump carried us in 2016. Our absentee ballot count was 10-4 in favor of Lamb, so if our results were typical, there is little chance of reversing the outcome.

Lamb was a made-to-order candidate as an ex-marine (who did less than a 2 year overseas tour of duty in Okinawa as a desk jockey, but that wasn't publicized), pretty boy and part of a legacy local political dynasty which were fairly moderate Democrats. He also worked his tail off knocking on doors.

Saccone should graciously concede at this point, remind voters of Lamb's promises to work with President Trump and not support Nancy Pelosi and warn him that the job could last only nine months if he does not. There will be at least one far left (IOW, mainstream Democrat) candidate who will challenge him in May, plus an even more likely wider field to challenge Saccone for the privilege of a rematch.

I hope a large portion are military votes. Make sure Democrats are not in charge of the recount.

“The article reports that Saccone needs 60% of the absentee ballots in his favor. Not insurmountable.”

And there are the Mail-In ballots which are often members of the Armed Services who would have more than 60% Republican.

There could also be more absentee Republican voters or some GOP voters that were turned away from the polls because they forgot their I.D’s at home.

Those Republicans as well as the Republicans who forgot it was Election Day or had car trouble should also have accommodation to vote.

Just give up? That’s the traditional Republican way while Democrats play cut throat. DO NOT give up at this point!!

It is fine to let the absentee balloting run their course and even to aggressively challenge any evidence of fraud in Allegheny County, if it is there. I am just pointing out that if our precinct was close to typical (and there is nothing to indicate that it was not), the odds are slim to none that the absentee ballot count will reverse the result or even narrow the margin by any significant amount.

It's not giving up. It's simply cutting your losses and moving on to the next fight.

The Democrat was telegenic and vowed to work with Trump. You have to remember, that the Tea Party and Trump's base are pissed at Republicans too. Why should I vote for a Republican who would've became the Chamber of Commerce's b!tch and wouldn't have advanced genuine conservatism anyway?

In the long run, Democrats running on Trump's agenda absolutely demoralizes the kook leftists and the coastal elites.

First they tell us they won’t be counted until today. Then they tell us they were counted last night. Now they have not been counted. What are we to believe?

But you are right that Absentee ballots are a democrat’s playground. So is early voting. That’s why Como is taking it to NY.

Wow..you’re kind of clueless for such a lo g time FR member. The far left always runs middle of the road to get to Congress and unload their socialism. The kooky left get this, they understand the game. The only people demoralized are tax paying patriots, because another leftwinger flipped a red seat.

Your argument is why Voter Fraud will keep getting worse and worse. You are your own worst enemy. I believe that the Jewish people once believe like you too. Back at the beginning of WW2.

There is not excuse that our system makes vote fraud a snap. It could be fixed. Then and only then do we not need to worry about it.

"Pennsylvania special election will be decided by absentee ballots..."

..... I have always wondered why "Absentee Ballots" are not also counted along with all of the others during an election since they are also ballots cast by Americans asserting their right to vote?
