Dont be evil is the motto of Googles corporate code of conduct according to Wikipedia. Sounds good, until one considers that evil is subjective when one has unhinged himself from the rock of truth.
Silicon Valley, previously looked to as a redeemer of the American economy, is transforming itself into a suspicious Angel of Light preaching something far different than life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Unless happiness translates to the worst of American capitalism squashing competitors, using indentured servants, attempting to fix wages, depressing incomes, creating ever more social anomie and alienation, as noted by Orange County Register.
The big five Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Amazon far from sating leftist groupies with progressive insights, are now causing alarm. The reason? The invasive attempt to get to know individual customers really know them. Perhaps not in the biblical sense, but the left seems to be mulling the question of consent.

When the brain processes ‘Don’t be evil’ it drops the ‘Don’t’ and the command becomes: Be Evil
As I read the bible I’ve learned to see the word “evil” as “bad” and also see it as very subjective. It’s “bad” for a person when we execute him for murder. It can be said that the state did an “evil” to that person. All it means is that we did something he did not like and did not leave him in a better position (probably).
I had to do that to reconcile wherever the bible says God did an “evil”. The great flood was bad for the people that drowned. The red see returning to its normal state was bad for the army that drowned.
Which government entity just started uploading their databases to...was it Amazon?
Yeah, dod data bases to the amazon cloud. That’s a real awesome idear eh? May make the hildabeast secure server deal look like as piker.
It’s always been external. It never has applied to them......................
That’s right...the Pentagon.
I wonder if my Amazon Prime account entitles me to free shipping on Top Secret files....
The second Google hitched their wagon to Red China, the slogan became a hypocritical joke.
It scary how powerful these Leftist companies have become.. They want a Technocracy so bad .. Looks like they are getting it. God help us.
Google is turning evil because their modus operandi is “know everything” - and market based on data-mining & selling that information.
Amazon, likewise, borders on the edge of evil because their modus operandi is “sell everything” - and is mining data to figure out how to sell more.
Apple, hate mongers aside, is resisting evil because their modus operandi is “sell hardware” - advanced by “know the user” software implemented with an imperative of “secure user data”, going so far as building hardware resistant to FBI warrants & analysis.
Article is an example of “forced fairness”, imputing equal evil upon all major players despite dramatically diverse “evilness” (or lack thereof). To wit: noting that Google’s “don’t be evil” imperative is gutted, author feels compelled to say “well, they all do it” without objective justification.
Abortion is Evil.
Physician Assisted Suicide is Evil.
Eugenics is Evil.
Let’s see whether Google stops promoting these.
Dang. We got Prime too.
It never did.
I watched in mounting horror as they systematically and deliberately ‘disappeared’ over half a million hits on searches for ‘obama birth certificate’ in mid-July 2007.
I don’t use google except as a last resort when a half-dozen other search engines have failed.
‘Don’t be evil’ in the same sense that the clinton administration was ‘the most ethical presidency ever’ and the obama administration was ‘the most transparent administration evah’
I use startpage. I abhor google but it is so intertwined with so much we show up on their radar sooner or later someplace. Kinda like internet explorer. I NEVER use it but when I do my daily clean up on the lap top, there is always something in the IE files to be deleted.
That's truly frightening.
Interesting that Startpage, whose home page says is “Enhanced by Google” is your preferred search engine.
Have you tried DuckDuckGo?
LOL! Yeah, my mistake. I just looked something up and DOH! It was/is DuckDuckGo. Duh!?
Do you use Outlook for email? I don't use IE either but Outlook stores graphics and other items from email messages in the IE temp file area... needs to be cleared out regularly.
Nope, no outlook.
