He was visiting a friend his own age. His friend had a 13 year old brother, who also had a friend visiting that night. The host family had known the killer for 10 years. So mom and both 13 year olds were attacked, with the visiting 13 year old not surviving. The 17 year old was not attacked. The reporting is not the best.
