The Maritime Museum of San Diego enjoys a worldwide reputation for excellence in restoring, maintaining and operating historic vessels. The museum has one of the world's finest collections of historic ships, including the world's oldest active ship Star of India.

Founded in 1948, the museum grew out of the earlier efforts of a group of local historians and maritime enthusiasts who acquired the sailing ship Star of India in 1927. Now fully restored, the Star of India is maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers and skilled craftsmen and sailed at least once a year.

The museum’s collection also includes the 1898 steam ferry Berkeley, the 1904 steam yacht Medea, the 1914 Pilot, the state’s official tall ship Californian-a replica of a mid 19th century revenue cutter, the H.M.S Surprise, a magnificent replica of an 18th century Royal Navy frigate featured in the award winning film “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.” and the USS Dolphin a treasure of technology and research and a former US Navy research submarine.

My step-SIL said pretty much the same thing. She and my step-brother live in LA but recently bought a house just south of Nashville. They came over in Nov. and stayed til after the new year and she was feaking out at the cold weather we had. “This is the south! It isn’t supposed to get cold!” LOL

We aren’t THAT far south.

It felt better here after the sun went down than it did all day, even though the temp was dropping. The wind makes it so much colder when it’s blowing as hard as it was today.
And where is all that wind in the middle of summer when we’re roasting??!!

Sleep well when you get there. Have a great day tomorrow.

“The wood box is full, finally!”

Electricity still on.

Penny still has the “runs” so we have to go out periodically. At first, all she wants to do is prance in the snow...but the...suddenly...her feet get cold and it’s run run run all the way home!

“Electricity still on.”

It is here, too.
However, the snow is starting to come down sideways
which means the winds are starting to wind up.
*SIGH*
I am praying that those of us in the path of the storm don’t lose the power.
Can you get somewhere safe if you need to?

If I lose power, I am stuck in a cold house with a lot of candles, a propane stove for cooking, and my car barricaded in a pile of snow.

So...I’m “safe”, but COLD.

Please keep me, and the mostly elderly and poor folks in “The Glen” in your prayers.

My Canteen Family are ALWAYS in my prayers, but I will pray extra extra hard for you today!
I am worried that you will have no heat if the power quits.
In hindsight, I should have had you come up here and stay with me.
We are poor too, but I have that nice old wood fired cook stove in the kitchen.
Prayers up ML!!
*HUG*

Kitty wouldn’t let me nap.
If he wishes to continue to enjoy his good health, he had better LEAVE ME ALONE!
As soon as I am done munching on my English Muffin, I will try again!

Same here except my problem was that Peaches has so much dust in his fur....though I try to wash it out with damp paper towels....that my allergies had me coughing and sneezing..

And I have a thread in little more than an hour.

Mmmmm...English muffin sounds yummy!
