I was going to say after seeing your other reply first, I’m just about done with your willful ignorance. California has statutory rape laws while France doesn’t. There’s no state in the US that legally assumes that children can consent. But California being California, it probably is just about as bad as France overall. We’re talking two moral cesspools.

You continue to misrepresent things. I also verified everything with Le Figaro. And conservatives here still use the NYT and WaPo as they’re still reliable to a point when used with care.

From Le Figaro:

How the age of sexual consent has returned to the center of the debate

In less than three months, three cases of sexual intercourse between a minor and an adult put the age of sexual consent in the foreground. The government has announced that a bill is being prepared. If it is accepted by Parliament, it will enter into law in 2018.

While the Weinstein case has helped to free up the voices of victims of sexual harassment around the world , in France the age of sexual consent for minors is hotly debated. Relaunched after three cases of sexual relations between minors and adults, including two where the “rape” was not retained, the issue is raised to the government that committed to amend the legislation. The Figaro takes stock.

• What does the government say?

The debate is on the table. And the government is showing the will to change things. “We are thinking about something new, which is a presumption of non-consent to sexual intercourse below a certain age. We have a very quick thinking about the age, which can be 15, 14, 13 years old, “said Nicole Belloubet , a CNB spokesperson on Wednesday.
