**snip** “While it may have been a violation of policy to not notify their supervisors that they were going there, their intentions were brave and heroic, I think,” Broward County PBA President Jeff Marano said Wednesday.

The SWAT officers who responded were Detective Jeffrey Gilbert and Detective Carl Schlosser. One of them told supervisors he was in the Coral Springs area when the gunfire happened; it’s not known where the other drove from, police spokeswoman Tania Rues said.

“They were both close by [the high school],” Rues said.

A third SWAT member, Officer Kevin Gonzalez, was accused of being linked to several social media posts that put the city and police in a negative light, and was suspended for violating the department’s social media policy and the code of conduct, Rues said.

She said she “could not comment further on where he may have posted information about the mass shooting or what was written.”

“officers did not have permission to respond”

Things work so much better when gov is involved. That’s why we should depend on them for cradle to grave support.

Lessons learned from the Aurora, Colo. movie theater shooting and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport shooting “clearly demonstrate that a controlled, organized response is what is most effective,” Rues said.

YEAH.

Like Sheriff Israel’s “controlled response”

SHAME ON THOSE AR 15’S
FOR WHAT HAPPENED AT THE PARKSIDE SCHOOL

BLAME GUNS
NOT
PREVIOUS GOVERNMENT POLICIES FAILURES THEY
MUST BE HIDDEN

The inability to counter this perverted (they call progressive) agenda created by the democratic party ( in name only) has its goose stepping adherents in the media left make it up as guns and the NRA garbage through their swill mills. When it should be contested by GOP state and federal legislators who should be demanding investigative hearings exposing policy failures

DON’T MENTION THIS
Besides examining the conduct and arrangements of the Broward county sheriff’s dept performance failures. A dramatic reduction in disciplinary incidents at Parkside were reported after the selection of Obama’s Chicago friend as school superintendent occurred which was publicly acclaimed. And that school district was receiving large grant money from Obama’s Attorney General because of those results. That many critics claimed encouraged criminal activity. Which should require Trump Administration US Attorney General beside find out why when the FBI knew that Cruz should not be able to purchase weapons did. And review these grant programs instituted by the previous Obama administration.

Wow, aren’t government priorities messed up. The logic behind this decision is really warped!

I’ve worked a lot with federal, state and local police officers and one thing I’ve been told consistently is that most departments REQUIRE their officers to carry while off duty, the purpose being to respond as officers should in an unexpected situation. How is this different? If an off-duty officer sees someone getting mugged, he/she is obligated to respond, but not permitted to respond in the case of children being executed?

I realize chiefs are appointed and not elected, but if I were the mayor of Miramar, I’d call the chief in and say, “Suspended? Really? Just how did you get your head that far up your ass? Give the officers an official reminder of department policy, tear it up so it doesn’t go into their files and remind them to call it in next time.”

This is probably 100% correct, imo.
You have to stay in your assigned area.

Had there been an emergency call in their own duty area, they would have been unable to respond.

You can’t just leave your assigned area like that.

Every new fact supports my impression that this was a much anticipated event. Everything was in place to political advantage of event. What has been seen as incompitance, including the ‘hold in place’ order, was really part of the plan to let the shooting take place. The only thing they didn’t know was what day it would happen. But they knew the probability was very high it would happen. The dems see their only real way to meaningful gun “control” is through school shootings. The larger the casualty count the better.

Feel free to call the Miramar PD (non emergency):

(954) 602-4000

Chief Dexter M. Williams

Let them know how you feel about suspending the brave officers from SWAT.

Suspended for endangering officers who never went into the school u til the shooting was over? I think not.

Sending a message because these officers aren’t under the control of the sheriff and need to toe the story line? More likely.

Permission? We don’t need no stinkin permission to go in there blazing away. OK, in reality they did a brave thing, now, picture 2 or 3 fathers of students going in their with their AR -15’s etc., would it not be the same? Brave yes, but they would bare full responsibility for their actions no mater how brave they were, and then have to explain to the judge how they felt they had the authority to go over the heads of the Police Dept who were responsible for the area.

Absolutely nothing has happened to the Cowards from Coward county, but these two men who ran to sound of the guns get punished severely.

These two are the kind of cops that take thei serve and protect vow seriously. That is why they are in the dog house. Police are supposed to stay out of dangerous situations. Cops getting killed or injured can blow a city’s budget.

Two Miramar SWAT officers suspended for heading to Parkland massacre

Sounds eerily similar to what happened when there was an attempt to send aid to Benghazi. The dems would rather let people die.

“A third SWAT member, Officer Kevin Gonzalez, was accused of being linked to several social media posts that put the city and police in a negative light, and was suspended for violating the department’s social media policy and the code of conduct, Rues said.”

The pPolice hierarchy, trying to keep the public they supposedly serve, from knowing the truth! They have a “social media policy” to keep anyone from knowing what really happens Yeah, that’s the ticket!
