Christina Hoff Sommers is a self-identified feminist and registered Democrat with a Ph.D. in philosophy and a wicked sense of humor. She is also a woman who says bad things. Things like: Men and women are equal, but there are differences between them. Or: The gender gap in STEM fields isnt simply the result of sexism. Or: Contrary to received wisdom, the American school system actually favors girls, not boys.
When such a person steps foot on a college campus these days, you know whats coming. So it was on Monday at Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Ore., where Ms. Sommers had been invited by the Federalist Society to give a talk about feminism.
In advance of the lecture, nine student groups, among them the Portland National Lawyers Guild, the Minority Law Student Association, the Womens Law Caucus, the Jewish Law Society and the schools Young Democratic Socialists of America chapter sent a letter protesting the appearance by this known fascist.
The letter added that her invitation amounted to an act of aggression and violence and went on to offer a curious definition of free speech: Freedom of speech is certainly an important tenet to a free, healthy society, but that freedom stops when it has a negative and violent impact on other individuals.
Yes, these future lawyers believe that free speech is acceptable only when it doesnt offend them. Which is to say, they dont believe in it at all.

A sign protesting a speech by the conservative radio host Ben Shapiro at the University of California, Berkeley, last year.
The internet has made all of our children really, really stupid.
Alright, who kidnapped the NYT and replaced them with Forbes?
Calling an Orthodox Jew, Mr. Shapiro, a Nazi is quite an insult ... unless you call everyone else that. And that’s what liberal bullies do.
This is why “punch a Nazi” is literally a threat to everyone else. When they can call a Jewish man in a kippa a Nazi and threaten violence against him, liberals are a threat to EVERYONE’s safety.
Trust me, there is still plenty of rank ignorance expressed in this column, even as it does the blind squirrel routine at times.
AntiFa pukes disrupted a Sargon of Akkad talk/panel discussion at a UK college, and got a minor beatdown and their AntiFa flag taken away for their efforts. Here’s Sargon of Akkad with their flag:

The NYT now agrees?
It’s official: SJWs are nuts.

Just when you think the NY Times might say something reasonable, they blame Donald Trump for the phenomenon of leftists attack other leftists.
Your asinine brutal communist speech has a negative and violent impact on me.
So there. Shut up, or be arrested.
An exercise in how to write an article that makes reasonable and insightful points, and still virtue signal to your “side.”
What are the odds that an actual, self admitted Nazi sympathizer by the name of George (Georgi) Soros (Schwartz) is funding those groups?
Because it works. And it works because institutions such as the NY Times have allowed it, even encouraged it. This author appears to think that the only "demonstrably non-fascist people" are on the left:
they strip us of our sharpness of our ability to react forcefully to real fascists and misogynists or members of the alt-right.
Or maybe they're not fascists and misogynists at all, hmm? I don't think anyone writing for the NYT is quite daring enough to go that far. She's fine with the slurs, she just doesn't want them used against "her people".
What a cute scam...
These losers get to define "negative and violent impact" no matter what the circumstances.
Real or imagined, their reaction will always be violent.
And they plan to get away with it indefinitely.
WTF?
People who think the nyt finally “gets it” need to re-read the article.
The rest of it is fine.
