Two children are dead — including the daughter of a pregnant Tony-winning Broadway star who was injured herself — after a driver allegedly struck them with her vehicle after running a red light in Brooklyn, New York, an N.Y.C. Police Department source tells PEOPLE.
Ruthie Ann Miles, who won a Tony Award for best featured actress in a musical for her role in the 2015 revival of The King and I, has been identified by family and friends on a GoFundMe page as one of three non-fatal victims of the crash. According to the page, Miles is pregnant.
Two children — 1-year-old Joshua Lew and 4-year-old Abigail Blumenstein, Miles’ daughter — were pronounced dead upon their arrival at Methodist Hospital, police said.
Lt. John Grimpel of the NYPD confirms to PEOPLE in an email that the crash occurred on Monday around 12:40 p.m. when a 44-year-old female allegedly “failed to maintain control of the vehicle and struck the pedestrians.”
The NYPD source tells PEOPLE that after running the red light, the driver allegedly continued down the street until crashing into some parked cars. The 1-year-old’s stroller was dragged halfway down the street with the 1-year-old in it, according to the source.
The driver is allegedly claiming she had a seizure, says the source.
Authorities did not name the adult non-fatal victims, listing them only as a 34-year-old female, a 33-year-old female and a 46-year-old male.

The driver, Dorothy Bruns, 44, whose car was cited four times in the last two years for running red lights, attempted to speed away but crashed into several cars on Ninth St. and was stopped by witnesses, cops said.
The car that Bruns was driving was also hit with speeding through a school zone four times in the last two years.

Snort. In NYS? Dream on. I know people with multiple convictions for DUI who still have their licenses.
She’s waaay on the wrong side of the street.... if it wasn’t a seizure (driver’s reported speeding history makes that seem unlikely explanation) then she must have been seriously “impaired”.... i.e. drunk as a skunk.
The logical question is “who is the perp related to?”
Witnesses said she didnt even try to stop just kept on accelerating just horrible those poor babies :(

She must be related to or sleeping with someone well connected since it looks like she got a free pass this time as well.
