The process can take up to a year or longer

AND, you have to purchase the gun, which then sits at the gun store until you go through the almost year long process.

Had a co-worker do this for a MAC-10. Now he wants to add a silencer. Even though he went through the process for the gun, he has to start all over from scratch for the silencer.And, the year wait continues.......

I also have a co-worker buying a Mac 10. He’s paying $8,000 for a gun the guy bought for about $500 in 1983. He’s waiting for his tax stamps for the gun and suppressor. The paperwork wasn’t as onerous as I thought it was. You apparently no longer need a letter from the head of local law enforcement.
