To the CMA Foundation Board From Mike Huckabee March 1, 2018
Dear Board Members:
I hereby tender my resignation effective immediately. I hope this will end the unnecessary distraction and deterrent to the core mission of the Foundation which is to help kids acquire musical instruments and have an opportunity to participate in music programs as students.
Since I will not be able to continue in what I had hoped to be useful service in this endeavor, I wanted to at least put some things on the record. I have no expectation that it will change the irrational vitriol directed toward you or me for my religious or political views that necessitated my abrupt departure, but I want you to know what you would never know by reading intolerant and vicious statements on the internet about who I am or what led me to want to be a part of your efforts to empower kids with the gift of music. So please bear with me.
Music changed my life. I grew up dirt poor in south Arkansas. No male upstream from me in my entire family ever even graduated from high school. I had no reason to believe that my life would consist of anything but scratching out a meager living and hoping to pay rent in a house I would never own just as generations before me had done.
Music changed that. The gift of an electric guitar by my parents when I was 11 put in my hands a future. It took them a year to pay for the $99 guitar they bought from the J.C. Penney catalog. Granted, I was never good enough to make a full-time living at music, but the confidence I gained by playing, being in front of people, . . .

The whole resignation letter is published at the link, it is worth a read.
If Nashville doesn't welcome Christians, or those with conservative political views, I will no longer spend my money on purchasing country music. The words used to describe Christian views were: "sick views".
I remember that former Governor Huckabee was instrumental in organizing "Chic-Fil-A Appreciation Day in 2012. I appreciated his leadership in that effort.
What exactly happened?
> Mike Huckabee Says Hate Wins <
It’s kind of a side point, but I sure wish folks - left and right - would quite using the word “hate” when describing their opponents.
“Stupidity” would have worked there instead. And “Intolerance” would have been even better. But “hate”...the left casually uses that word to justify violence. (No, I’m not saying that was Huckabee’s intention. But I am saying it’s a word to avoid.)
When a mainstream Southern Conservative Pastor is deemed too extreme to head the Country Music Association Foundation because of his Conservative Biblical views, the other side has won...
The Queer lobby went on a rampage against Huckabee being on the CM foundation board because he is a true Christian
The inquisition and purge of Christians for their belief in biblical marriage continues
Country music doesn’t want to associate with Huckabee because he doesn’t support faggotry. Bro country sure has had a big effect /s
He was clearly saying that the leftists used hate to force him out, and that they were successful in that tactic. Hate is the only word that can describe the visceral antipathy that the left shows to conservatives, especially Christian conservatives. They bow in subservience to the islamic savages because the left and islam both hate Christianity. And one day they will pay the price for this unholy alliance while kneeling before their islamic executioners.
Bkmrk.
Good grief, the left is just over the top nuts. Why should they care if Mike Huckabee is on a board?
Whiny gay man with power politics strikes again.
I have no problem describing the gay left as a hate group. It is inaccurate and perfect description of the fuse they hold towards Christians and America.
The country music I love was already on its deathbed in the mid 90s. Pretty much any contemporary country music written and produced after then is lefty crap with few exceptions.
Roger that. It's pop music sung with southern accents.
That is it is “an accurate”
It is pure projection. They genuinely hate us, and truly believe that we hate them.
Wow, that is a great letter. Huckabee is one of the best communicators we’ve got.
I agree. I find it foul that country music industry has so many anti-biblical and hate-filled insiders.
Merle Haggard said about “New Country”:
“I can’t say anything good about it. I wish I could. But I can’t.”
