I have a strong suspicion that the current kerfuffle between President Trump and his attorney general is part of a strategy, not merely as the left has it a rogue president shockingly, immaturely and inappropriately attacking his attorney general on Twitter.
*snip*
Occams Razor suggests that the president means it, and that he really wants DOJ prosecutors charged with going after Comey and is genuinely angry at Sessions. But I always see Donald Trump as a master of the video narrative, an expert crafter of story arcs that work to his advantage, and which often lure his opponents into positions that redound to his benefit once all the facts and drama have played themselves out before the nations eyes. Never forget that Donald Trump is the most successful reality television producer in the history of the medium. And never forget that he played the media like a Stradivarius violin during the campaign, exploiting their predictable outrage.
*snip*
One other thing to never forget: Jeff Sessions spent 12 years as a US Attorney in Alabama and went on to spend 2 years as the Attorney General of Alabama before becoming a United States senator. He is a veteran prosecutor, and knows that you keep evidence secret, and that when you bring an indictment, you must have all your ducks in line, not compromised by leaks and not requiring more investigation.
What if AG Sessions is already conducting serious investigations and has developed evidence that will result in indictments for misbehavior in the surveillance of the Trump campaign, and in the FBI? The very last thing Sessions (or Trump) would want is for Sessions to be seen as Trumps hit-man, going after his political opponents.

Ping of interest.
million-D chess
well it’s time for things to happen soon. Like this week.
Ah yes... the ever popular "what if". What if he isn't...
Oops. That second “*snip*” in the excerpt was unneeded. Pls ignore.
No thanks, I’ve already had 6 glasses of this swill offered and it’s still BS, no matter which new writer gloms onto the theory.
I see Donald Trump as a smart, accomplished man who shoots off at the mouth more often than I'd like. No need to read into this. Trump is mad at Sessions and is berating and insulting him on Twitter, in appropriately in my view. If he has a problem with his own cabinet, talk to them about it in private. If this turns out to be "4D Chess", I'll be pleasantly surprised. But I'm not counting on it.
Or maybe Sessions is just a deeply entrenched member of the establishment who refuses to go after his deep state comrades. That seems much more likely
I'm too old and experienced to buy into the "charges will soon be forthcoming" scenario.
I lived through the Clinton administration, where they literally got away with murder.
Deep state slow walk to nowhere.
There is no analyzing this. Sessions is a corrupt deep state member out to protect the other corrupt deep state members....or he is totally incompitent.
Either way Trump knows his appointment of Sessions was a yuuuuge mistake.
Believe me folks, if POTUS, Trump wanted to fire Jeff Sessions, he would do it in a New York Minute!!! Trump has learned how to play the media like they are his puppets, falling for every word he speaks. Trump has their number, he is a “New York City” street kid, wise in the way of the streets. The media morons have nary a clue.
Being a “wise” New York City street kid myself...I prefer to stand by and watch the good cop, bad cop play out their game, while the media make asses out of themselves.
It’s either this or Sessions is more loyal to the deep state then he is to Trump.
4D chess,rope a dope etc.
Bull. More like Charlie Brown football. Lucy.
or he could actually be what he appears to be, worthless.
As we have seen several times over the past year, things aren’t always as they seem....
The President would prefer for Sessions to resign. He’s only just stopped short of calling Sessions a eunuch or wife beater. He’s done everything he can to demean Sessions but he won’t budge. Which means he’s either the wimp we’ve been calling him, or more likely a fully functioning operative of the Deep State who is presiding over a soft coup.
Sessions’ reply made me suspect this is all a set-up far more than Trump’s initial comments.
It could all just be red meat for people like us - the base, who are increasingly frustrated that Sessions doesn’t seem to do ANYTHING to earn his paycheck.
The only thing we know for sure is that we don’t know.
You are most likely correct.
