Not Title (Pres. Trump Tweet Re: Sessions DOJ IG FISA Investigation)
@realDonaldTrump ^ | February 28, 2018 | President Donald J. Trump

Posted on 02/28/2018 7:28:28 AM PST by Stingray51

Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!

I agree with Pres. Trump. The DOJ IG is not who should be conducting a serious, full-on criminal investigation. I don't understand what is wrong with Sessions. Sessions should order a criminal investigation, full stop. Or he should appoint another special counsel. Or he should direct Rosenstein to do it. But just dumping the whole thing on the non-criminal investigation of the IG is a massive cop-out.

And I do not understand why Pres. Trump does not order Sessions to do it. There are no brownie points for being a punching bag. It won't make Mueller "be nice" to him. The RINOs in Congress won't suddenly stop their efforts to undermine the President. He's got to use his full constitutional authority and lead. That means get Sessions to do exactly what the President wants or fire his wussy do-nothing self. Enough already! Who are the loser attorneys (the goofball with the mustache?) advising the President to sit back and wait to get hammered? He needs to go on offense. It is not as if Mueller and his corrupt cabal of Democrat witch hunters are sitting back and doing nothing. Every day they inch closer to their objective. It's far past time for the President to seize the initiative and do something other than tweet about how unhappy he is with the useless Sessions.

One issue with the FISA scandal is it might also involve different agencies & departments not under control of the DOJ.

Sessions had a part in the campaign. Any investigating done by DOJ of democrat party will be labeled as partisan. He must work through other agencies for all political investigations.

Trump’s right. The pathetic little coward Sessions is simply meekly doing the bidding of his Deep State DOJ staffers who serve as Session’s “handlers”. Sessions has, for all practical purposes, buried the FISA corruption issue.

This one is a head scratcher. While the POTUS makes total sense, tweeting his disapproval of Session’s decision to use the IG to investigate the FISA abuses is silly. He has the authority to order the AG to do the right thing.

The whole top five rows of the DOJ’s organizational chart needs to be cut off, and new blood needs to replace them. Sessions is obviously not serious about any investigations into DOJ/FBI/FISA court malfeasance. He's just going through the motions in an attempt to placate POTUS. Happy to see that POTUS isn't having any of it, but I doubt he'll do what needs doing (to Sessions and deep-staters at DOJ and FBI).

Right, Ex Senator Sessions is supposed to investigate all his friends and maybe himself too?? Is there something wrong with the air and water in DC that makes people stupid?

Ok, so in the instance of Trump Russia collusion we get a nuclear bomb caliber special counsel. In the instance of FISA abuses we get a squirt gun IG with no prosecutorial powers.

I believe AG Sessions may be implicated somewhere in this scandal hence the appointing of an Obama Guy. Trump needs to fire Sessions!

It was a huge mistake to put this guy in as attorney general. He’s been wallowing in the swamp for too long to be clean. There must be dirt on him somewhere. Does he really think that the people will be satisfied with Hillary and the other criminals getting a slap on the wrist for committing treason? He’s a loser if he does believe that.

He's trying to get a reaction out of the press, to get them on the record defending the IG and AG.

Also aims to elevate the allegation of FISA abuse, attached to Comey, to greater prominence in the news cycle.

I think and hope this is providing cover for the IG, just as it is for Sessions.

Fingers crossed.

Exactly. As much as I love Trump - it’s time he stopped bitching about it and do something about it.

Dear Mr President,

AG Sessions ‘works’ for YOU.
It’s my understanding that you have some previous experience with firing people.

Asking DOJ to investigate DOJ? What could go wrong?

I hate to see him ding the OIG as an “Obama guy”. This OIG, while appointed by Obama, fought long & hard against the Obama administration because they were limiting his ability to investigate where he needed to (where FISA abuse was taking place, for example - Yates told him ‘no - off limits’). Eventually, due to his efforts, a law was passed to give him the access he needed to properly do his job. Horowitz is very much a White Hat.

It sounds to me like POTUS has no control over the DOJ at all.

Well Trump sees the problem now Trump has to do something more then calling it disgraceful in a tweet. I am sick of Trump staying on the sidelines and complaining to Judge J on phone calls to her show on FNC

This one is a head scratcher.

He's taking his feud public because he's not a very powerful president. Pretty near lame in the case with Sessions--Grassley won't help him get another AG.
