I think that you are entirely correct. I suspect that his attitude is that “to make an omelet, you have to break a few eggs.” What we see as scandals, Obama sees as collateral damage arising from the overall successful policies which he followed (now, I would like to know what overall successful policies he pursued, but I am addressing the matter from his viewpoint, not ours).
For instance, I remain extremely troubled by the IRSs treatment of the Tea Party groups. I fail to see how anyone could not be troubled by this abuse of power. But by Obama’s reasoning, they were undeserving of tax exempt status, so, abuse, what abuse? Thus, to his mind, there’s no scandal.
If everything you do is virtuous, then there can be no scandal (and it’s pretty obvious that Obama thinks that everything he did was virtuous).
