Florida school's security cameras had nearly half hour delay, causing lag in capturing gunman

close Parkland, Florida shooting: Hear dispatch audio of chaotic day

Police officers responding to last week’s school shooting in Parkland, Florida reportedly thought they were tracking Nikolas Cruz live on surveillance video — but then realized the footage was delayed by nearly 30 minutes, tossing roadblocks into the frantic efforts to capture the 19-year-old shooting suspect.

The security cameras in Broward School District had a 20-minute delay, which left responding officers in the dark when attempting to look for Cruz in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 13, the Sun Sentinel reported. Cruz was captured in Coral Springs, located about a mile away, more than an hour after the start of the shooting.

“[Video images were] delayed 20 minutes and nobody told us that,” Coral Springs Police Chief Tony Pustizzi told the Sun Sentinel.

Cruz walked into the campus’ freshman building around 2:21 p.m. and began firing at students and staff, killing 17 people, police said. He left the school seven minutes later, blending in with terrified students.

Responding officers were heard on radio transmissions at 2:54 p.m. saying they were seeing Cruz on camera going from the third to the second floor. By that time, Cruz had been out of the building for 26 minutes, according to the newspaper.

“He went from the third floor to the second floor...They’re monitoring him on camera,” an officer was heard saying on the radio transmission released by Broadcastify.

Pustizzi recalled officers attempting to pinpoint Cruz when the shooter wasn’t even in the building.

3. My interest was initially accidental. I discovered an untold story of massive scale and consequence as a result of initial research into Trayvon Martin and his High School life. 4 replies 390 retweets 733 likes TheLastRefuge ‏ @TheLastRefuge2 7h7 hours ago 4. What I stumbled upon was a Broward County law enforcement system in a state of conflict. The Broward County School Board and District Superintendent, entered into a political agreement with Broward County Law enforcement officials to stop arresting students for crimes. 26 replies 914 retweets 1,149 likes TheLastRefuge ‏ @TheLastRefuge2 7h7 hours ago 5. The motive was simple. The school system administrators wanted to "improve their statistics" and gain state and federal grant money for improvements therein. 24 replies 618 retweets 1,005 likes TheLastRefuge ‏ @TheLastRefuge2 7h7 hours ago 6. So police officials, the very highest officials of law enforcement (Sheriff and Police Chiefs), entered into a plan. 13 replies 578 retweets 828 likes TheLastRefuge ‏ @TheLastRefuge2 7h7 hours ago 7. As soon as Miami-Dade began to receive the benefits (political and financial) from the scheme, Broward County joined on. The approach in Broward was identical as the approach in Miami-Dade. 9 replies 508 retweets 754 likes TheLastRefuge ‏ @TheLastRefuge2 7h7 hours ago 8. It's important to remember, this was not an arbitrary change - this was a well-planned fundamental shift in the entire dynamic of how teenagers would be treated when they engaged in criminal conduct. 9 replies 512 retweets 769 likes TheLastRefuge ‏ @TheLastRefuge2 7h7 hours ago 9. The primary problem was the policy conflicted with laws; and over time the policy began to create outcomes where illegal behavior by students was essentially unchecked by law enforcement.

This all goes back to the Obama DOJ hug a thug catch and release policies put in place by President Obama and Eric Holder which were continued under Loretta Lynch.

Broward County is heavily politicized and dominated by hard core Obama Leftists so the police and schools are dominated by Obama era corruption and degradation

Look at the latest article I posted from Conservative Treehouse:

The tape delay was so they could hide evidence of crimes and not have to lower their ‘no crimes at our school’ ranking.

I hope this revelation goes viral.

Makes sense. No school district wants to have student crimes ruin there chances

of getting Fed money. What’s in it for the Sheriff?

One would think that if they saw him shooting on camera but heard no shots, that would be a tipoff.
So their mock “shock” at the video delay is disingenuous at best.

Money.

They worked with a corrupt school system to hide the crimes and got federal money because of it.

Looked good politically as well. “We have safe schools!”

Sort of like the districts changing test answers so their kids had better scores, but here on a behavior level.

Florida has a mental health law on the books that could have saved lives had authorities used it:

The Baker Act allows for involuntary examination (what some call emergency or involuntary commitment). It can be initiated by judges, law enforcement officials, physicians, or mental health professionals. There must be evidence that the person:

possibly has a mental illness (as defined in the Baker Act).
is in danger of becoming a harm to self, harm to others, or is self neglectful (as defined in the Baker Act).

Examinations may last up to 72 hours after a person is deemed medically stable and occur in over 100 Florida Department of Children and Families-designated receiving facilities statewide.[2]

This just reeks of the Deep State. I’m sorry to sound like one of ‘those’ people. Not two days ago I read on another site, a comment like ‘just watch and see if the security footage will have been compromised’. Just like Princess Diana, just like other FF incidents.

I do believe it was a real shooting, I do believe real people died. But I believe it was ‘prompted’ by an FBI and law enforcement who chose not to do anything about a known threat. Who staged a practice drill “right” on the day the shooter “somehow” decided to do his deed. This reeks. Along with the programmed responses, the scripted messages, and yes, the crisis actors. I’m specifically thinking of the blond woman with the ash on her forehead who was also one of the Henderson survivors in the media. Both Hogg and the blonde girl had been on the news many times before. The girl was a CNN teen correspondent even. Thy boy’s mother used to work for CNN. Why are these connections not important to anyone?

Investigate the sheriff, investigate everyone. Why was Hogg doing an interview from inside the closet during the shooting? What about the second shooter? Something tells me we will never get answers.

“Wow. That smarmy Israel needs to be prosecuted.”

He’s not the only one! Virtually everyone connected with the “current written school district arrest procedure” (really a procedure not to arrest students at all) needs to be prosecuted. And the Liberal parents who have gone along with these policies should be held accountable in large measure for the deaths of some of their own children. Unfortunately, the dead won’t be coming back, thanks to all of them. This horrific attack was completely preventable, but now the focus is on an inanimate object, the gun!

Broward County Sheriff’s Office Did Not “Miss Warning Signs” or Make “Mistakes”…
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3634535/posts

“Secondly, the 27 minute tape-delay in the CCTV system is not an “accident”, “flaw” or “mistake”. It is entirely by design.

As a standard Broward and Miami-Dade practice, when school law enforcement need to cover-up or hide behavior, they need time (when that behavior happens) to delete the evidence trail. As such the school policy -as carried out in practice- is more efficient with a 30 minute tape delay affording the school officer enough time to deal with the situation, then erase the possibility of a recording of the unlawful activity surfacing”

What I don’t understand would be the reason behind staging a practice drill on the day of the shooting. Any idea?

WHY would security cameras have a built in delay?

The adults running that shooting gallery are just as responsible for the deaths of 17 humans as the guy that pulled the trigger.

They did everything in their power to insure that the shooter was successful, police were not involved or at least 20 minutes behind the actions of the killer. And KUDOS to the emergency response coward that let it all happen without interruption.

Are there any grownups in FloriDUH that give a shit about their schools and kids?
