There is some maintenance money included in the budget every year, that they can use with the new tougher Trump design standards. This effort is $18 million for a little over two miles of 30 foot barrier, with patrol road and a bridge.
Trump is requesting about a thousand times that much money $18 BILLION, for about a thousand miles of super barrier - double and triple barrier in some places. That would be a real game changer. That won’t happen without a big appropriation from Congress.

What if an outside organization raised funds from a campaign called “ Patriots for the Border Wall?”. Would Trump be able to use THAT money, or would the Supreme Court consider that abusing his role as POTUS?
