They wanted the case to go away.

A bipartisan committee of the Nebraska legislature found the allegations to be credible. Their lead investigator’s plane blew up in mid flight, in route to gather evidence.

One high up military guy implicated in the Franklin story was also a central character in the McMartin case. Practicing occultist, as well. Nothing to see there.

Yes, I read that the legislative committee thought it was credible, and couldn’t get a prosecution. It seemed to me that they published the book to maybe protect their own life.

It’s shocking really that such things have been swept under the rug and allowed to go on for so long. It’s also astounding that Satanic Temples are right out in the open strutting around these days. Some dippy judges have ruled they are just as legit as any other religion - they were cults when I was a kid, and made sure no one knew about them.
