That’s for the military only. Civilians can get the Congressional Medal of Freedom, but usually that’s for a lifetime of work. The US is somewhat poor compared to other countries in awarding medals, probably due to our break with England.
There were two teachers and the coach/school guard who rode toward the shooting from another part of campus on his golf cart. Shame he wasn’t armed so he could have truly done his job.
