250 Teachers Sign Up for 50 Seats at Concealed Carry Training Session
Breitbart ^ | Feb 20 2018 | Awr Hawkins

Butler County, Ohio, Sheriff Richard K. Jones offered free concealed carry training for 50 teachers and 250 teachers responded within 24 hours.

Breitbart News reported that Jones began advertising the free training on Sunday and the immediate response was 50 emails within 20 minutes:

On February 20 Fox 91 reported the response had jumped to 250 teachers who wanted training. Jones reveled in the opportunity to instruct them, saying, “We have 250 and growing fast. We will start training fast, next week.”

He stressed that he wants teachers to understand what they can do with a gun if an armed attacker enters the classroom. And while he cannot delegate the authority for teachers to carry on a given campus–that is a school board decision–Jones said he wants the teachers to be ready if their school board so chooses.

Good for them. The only thing I’d be worried about is will a teacher be able to pull the trigger on a student he or she knows well?

Recalling the ol’ maxim that a liberal is just a conservative who hasn’t been mugged yet, I see great irony building.

Many teachers are realizing that they are ON THE FRONT LINES and COMPLETELY NAKED. Rank-and-file often disagree with union leadership, and there should be a groundswell of teachers who make the push for concealed carry in the classroom.

A teacher can shield students from a bullet, yet still die and not stop subsequent killing of students. Give willing teachers training (which some already have) and gun, and they won’t have to give up their life or be a speedbump in the road for someone intent on murdering our students.

This program has already been implemented in many school districts in multiple states.

I say arm the kids and give them a solid firearms training.

On second though, the nerds who can't pass firearms training don't get to carry.

Arm them with slingshots and poison darts.

I was a teacher, once. From my perspective ... teachers know who are the students and scholars, and who are the nasty little $#!+$ that shouldn't be wasting time and space in school. Dropping the hammer on one of those little rotters wouldn't be a problem at all. This piece of human debris in Florida was a known problem. Dropping him would not be a problem.

the nerds who can't pass firearms training

It won't be the nerds who fail firearms training.

I sympathize with your view, but I think it’s unrealistic.

Kids at that age wouldn’t necessarily have the judgement to discern when lethal force was warranted.

Fights on the school grounds that take place from time to time, with both people get bruises, cuts, and perhaps a little more, would turn into a killing.

You’d also have the likelihood of groups attacking each other.

Arming the adults is enough for me.

When I was a kid, my hometown was horse crazy. My little brother and I always had rifles on our horses. Starting when I was 8 or 9. Most other kids did too.

I never pulled my rifle, but if I had encountered a pack of threatening dogs or a rabid fox...I would have.

If I had encountered a drunk idiot who threatened my brother or a friend, I would have drawn it. And probably fired it, if needed.

If I had seen an innocent person being attacked, I would have damn sure drawn it.

I know it was a different time, but we were conditioned to accept some adult responsibilities.

I knew when to use my rifle...and when not to.

Kids nowadays are quite a bit different, but training can change that.

All that said, society today would not accept a process in which kids were given responsibility.

Everyone is missing a big point here. A teacher is not likely to be faced with the possibility of shooting a “known” individual. The reality is that most of the benefit will accrue to schools which are no longer designated gun-free.

Liberals have never, under any circumstances, understood the value of deterrence. These are the same folks who, during the cold war, saw out nuclear arsenal as a threat, TO US!

You know...someone points a gun at me.

I forget who they are...

And they do at their peril.
