A 17 year old can become emancipated in nearly every court in America.

However, the Judge and Grandparents are party to accommodating mental illness.

“A 17 year old can become emancipated in nearly every court in America.”

If she had waited a year (or probably less), on her 18th birthday she could have made her own mistakes - and have had some time to think it over.

well, let the grandparents pay all the medical bills that are above and beyond what insurance covers...my guess is the real issue is that the parents have refused to pay.. 17 is one year away from being an adult anyway.
