The Great Physician
February 20, 2018
Remain in me, as I also remain in you.
John 15:4
When Dr. Rishi Manchanda asks his patients, Where do you live? hes looking for more than an address. He has seen a pattern. Those who come to him for help often live in conditions of environmental stress. Molds, pests, and toxins are making them sick. So Dr. Manchanda has become an advocate of what he calls Upstream Doctors. These are health care workers who, while providing urgent medical care, are working with patients and communities to get to the source of better health.
As Jesus healed those who came to Him (Matthew 4:2324), He lifted their eyes beyond the need for urgent physical and material care. With His Sermon on the Mount He offered more than a medical miracle (5:112). Seven times Jesus described attitudes of mind and heart that reflect a well-being that begins with a new vision and promise of spiritual well-being (vv. 39). Two more times he called blessed those who experience relentless persecution and find their hope and home in Him (vv. 1012).
Jesuss words leave me wondering. Where am I living? How aware am I of my need for a well-being that is greater than my urgent need for physical and material relief? As I long for a miracle, do I embrace as enviable the poor, broken, hungry, merciful, peacemaking heart that Jesus calls blessed?
Father in heaven, its so hard to see beyond our pain. Please let us sense Your mercy in this moment. Lift our eyes beyond ourselves. Let us find a new vision and source of health in the care of Christ, who heals.
When God is our home, our hope is in Him.
The end of Matthew 4 implies that people were following Him in the hope of being healed of anything that ailed them. Yet in response to the crowds desire to be physically healed, Jesus responds with words that can heal the soul. The Great Physician looks deep into our hearts and heals not just our bodies but our souls as well.

ergh! That’s a pretty good drop from the temps you were enjoying recently. Having sunshine does help a lot though, as long as there isn’t wind whipping.
Soooooo, the lil wild man is finally starting to tamp it down a bit, is he? ‘Bout time! LOL! I wouldn’t hold my breath on him getting over the jealousy stuff though. Some critters just don’t want to share attention. We have a few of those here. :-)
It was a warm 75 here but wind kinda ruined things. Just can’t seem to get nice temps without a hurricane blowing through. LOL!
Made a quick Wally World run this afternoon, then spent a while at the garage with Hubby and his cousin, talking about progress at the military museum. It was nice just to be outside for a while.

Dang, I knew it had been a while but didn’t realize it was THAT long. Y’all really ARE desperate for rain. Yikes!
I won’t mind grocery shopping tomorrow even if there IS wind. Wind will keep us all from sweating much. LOL
Even after tomorrow the temps will remain decent - - 60s and 70s the next week. Not too shabby when our normal highs this time of year are low 50s.
It looks like west TN will get flooded again Wed. and Thurs. while we’ll get maybe a half in of rain.

Hi Everybody.
Spent the whole evening with my sister at the animal ER.
Kitteh has gone on to the rainbow bridge.
It’s been a rough nite.

Yikes! I had to go to Amazon for hubby a birthday gift card. This month has just zipped by so fast I almost forgot!
That’s great that your temperatures are staying on the up side of 60 for a change. Hope your land has a chance to dry out a bit before the next round of rain squishes it up again.

So sorry your sister lost her beloved kitteh. :-( I know it was a tough thing to do but it was the right thing under the circumstances.
Just went through the same thing two weeks ago so understand too well how much it hurts. Our pets hold a special place in our hearts.

LOL! Time does have a nasty habit of slipping by too fast, doesn’t it? You aren’t the only one with the problem. I blew it too.
I planned on mailing a birthday card to my dad’s widow this year and kept forgetting to buy one. I’ll put together a birthday email tonight and it’ll be waiting in her inbox in the morning.
Things dried out a little bit today but there are still a lot of spots of standing water here and there. There are rain chances every day over the next week so it’s going to be squishy for a while.
But we do look forward to those nice temps, rain or not. A nice change.

Thanks! Wasn’t sure if I’d make it or not with all those quick ones around every evening. :)

Boy does it ever slip away! I’m ready for it to slow down a bit. I expected to be bored when I retired and for time to stand still, but that isn’t the case! I do a few things every day, and it all gets done and the time passes faster than when I worked.
Then I spent most of my time clock-watching just waiting for my hours to be done for the day. No more of that stuff! LOL!

Yes, we did get the warm and dry day they promised and it was sooooo nice to get out and not shiver.
One more dry day, then several wet days ahead but they’ll be fairly warm.
But it’s only Feb. and we have plenty of cold weather left to go, so we have to enjoy this while we can.
