That is certainly possible and worth investigating.
I still think it was stupid to issue these indictments and publicly accuse Russia of “meddling in our elections.” Usually that kind of agitprop is handled more subtly by our intelligence community by disrupting their agitprop or applying our own covert disruption against the offending nation.
We do it, they do it, everybody does it. By making it an in-your-face accusation we’ve just invited some very unpleasant very public retaliation. Potentially against innocent American citizens involved in nothing more than legitimate international business.
Looks to me like it’s an excuse for not having anybody else he cares to indict. At this time. But I’m sure he’ll go on looking.
I think you’re right and Mueller doesn’t care how much damage he does in the process.
How does this square with US involvement in influencing elections in other foreign countries?
Well for one thing, our coups involve spreading a whole lot more wealth around. US coup masters don’t bother learning some wog language or influencing voters with pathetic ads. We bring the blessing of democracy by paying ambitious locals to kill their elected leaders, then send in sound trucks to blast out “Don’t run. We are your Friends” in English. Good old-fashioned violence from Mossadegh* to Diem to Allende to Saddam got her done. Nothing remotely like this toothless Russkii attempt to confuse idiots with a few FaceBook ads and blog comments.
*We didn’t kill Mossadegh, just dumped him under house arrest and let nature take its course.

Saddest indictment yet. Is Mueller aware the election occurred November 8th? How does one conspire to influence an election after it’s over?
