There's a problem here. I never want to see a mental health ban, because the powers in charge will get to decide that their opposition is insane. I support the second amendment even though I don't like guns.....I understand why people need to be able to defend themselves from tyranny and from attack.

But, c'mon. If there aren't some reasonable controls put in place, the restrictions that finally happen will take away gun ownership rights. Restricting assault weapons, background checks for all, having some stiff penalties for those who don't enforce laws already in place will all help.

At the same time, how about a serious study about the impact mind-altering legal drugs have had on those who commit these massacres? One can't help but suspect the pharmaceutical companies have something to do about that not being studied.

About “reasonable controls”; if I recall correctly, that’s how a persons rights are stripped away incrementally.
I believe this same argument was used in the 1930’s to promulgate Germany’s racial purity and marriage laws.
They used the same “reasonable controls” to deal with the mentally and physically handicapped in their country.
Then the same “reasonable controls” were applied to any political opposition.
Ultimately those “reasonable controls” were applied to any Jew or any person who had a Jewish ancestor.
I personally don’t much care for OTHER PEOPLES REASONABLE CONTROLS.
