Nikolas Cruz: 'We had this monster living under our roof and we didn’t know.'
Sun Sentinel ^ | February 18, 2018 | Paula McMahon

Nikolas Cruz was immature, quirky and depressed when James and Kimberly Snead took him into their Parkland home. But he was pleasant and seemed to be growing happier, they said.

How the 19-year-old turned into a killer still baffles them.

“We had this monster living under our roof and we didn’t know,” Kimberly Snead told the South Florida Sun Sentinel in an exclusive interview Saturday. “We didn’t see this side of him.”

“Everything everybody seems to know, we didn’t know,” James Snead said. “It’s as simple as that.”

Cruz still lived with the Sneads on Wednesday when he walked into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School with an AR-15 rifle and killed 17 people — the worst school shooting since Sandy Hook.

The Sneads’ son had asked whether his friend could move into their home last Thanksgiving. Cruz’s mother, who had adopted him, died of pneumonia Nov. 1, leaving him without parents. He stayed briefly with a family friend in the Lantana area but wanted to move on.

The Sneads quickly agreed — though they realized he was extremely depressed about his mother’s death. Prayer vigils to honor those killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School

Five days before the shooting, Kimberly Snead took Cruz to the office of a therapist she has been seeing. Cruz said he was open to therapy but didn’t like medication. He took a business card and was figuring out what his health insurance would cover.

Not really buying this.

This kid had major problems, what with the police having been called out there some 30 times or so.

These two are not doing themselves any favors by granting so many interviews. They are not coming across all that well.
She, a health professional, him an ‘intelligence specialist’,and they allow this unvetted boy into their home.
They allow this kid with a gun collection to stay in their home, knowing that he still has the key to open the gun safe.
Not very smart at all.

I am skeptical that the Snead’s had no idea Cruz was a monster.

But giving the Snead’s the benefit of the doubt, the Broward County Law Enforcement, Schools, Social Workers, Doctors, and anyone else in authority did a great cover-up of Cruz and undoubtedly many, many other monsters under their watch.

He was autistic. Unfortunately. Isolated, paranoid, made fun of, constantly alone, spiraling further and further out of control into dementia. His parents failed him, the school failed him, Social Services failed him, the local hospital psychiatric outpatient services failed him, the FBI failed him, local law enforcement failed him,. The boys should have been on psychiatric drugs. I knew this kid had Asperger’s, autism spectrum disorder the first time I saw his picture.

How anybody did not see this and get him treatment let alone how he obtained a firearm is beyond mind boggling.

The story is a lie .
The family friend arranged for him to move that house because he was austistic and he owned a rifle that she did not want in the house .

If he is a sociopath he is capable of being charming when he needs to be. He is also capable of gaming they system by charming the people he needs.

If it is true that he was bringing pictures of dead animals to intimidate fellow students with, that the cops had been called numerous times to the home of this poor adoptive mother who died an untimely death from a very treatable disease, and that he had numerous incidents of violence and death threats to his credit. It is quite possible that this kid is a psychopath. If he claims that he only shot 17 people because the voices in his head told him to do it, well, it is unusual that he would have the focus to over a period of time smuggle a stash of weaponry into the school and be able to secure it without wandering off in fairyland at some point and give the whole thing away.

Andreas Brevik the Norwegian who killed 75 people with a rifle and a bomb spent 9 years planning his attach. (or so he claims!)

Also if you read about Brevik and what is coming out about this guy, they’re very similar!

The psycho kid had been living with this family for only 3 months, and they didn't know him prior to that. I suppose it's possible they didn't know his history, but his mother (who died in Nov 2017) certainly did. She informed DCF invesigators of many instances of obviously disturbed behavior and her son's history of mental illness. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/broward/parkland/florida-school-shooting/fl-school-shooting-nikolas-cruz-cutting-snapchat-20180216-story.html

They are discrediting themselves.

If there were in such positions they should have been able to see the warning signs.

ANYONE who is observant can catch little glimpses into what people are like by their reactions to unexpected things that happen before they can recover quickly and cover them up.

Just a quick look of anger, a flash of the eyes, evasion.

There’s a thousands warning signs.

.....”The Sneads’ SON had asked whether ‘his friend’ could move into their home last Thanksgiving..The Sneads quickly agreed ... they realized he was extremely depressed about his mother’s death.”.........

Cruz was their sons friend...so of course they thought this was a good thing to do. Parents naturally want to help kids they know are struggling ...in this case they likely felt no threat since their son was friends with Cruz.

Andreas Brevik believed he was a Knight’s Templar.

Did he have a string of domestic complaints against him? Death threats attributed to him? Violence? Dead animal pics??

I am no shrink, but I will bet you this kid is a psychopath. He told these people that he was due to inherit $800,000 and thought his adoptive mother was stealing from him because $2,000 went missing.
