Don’t know how many here remember Cong Pete McCloskey. Former Marine officer. After the rash of handgun shootings like the assassination.of RFK, the attemped assassination of Wallace and other hi profile shootings there was a movement to ban handguns which McCloskey supported. On a talk show the host asked him about home defense. He urged people to buy shotguns. The host followed up by asking whether a woman would be able to really use a 12 gauge. McCloskey responded that a woman would easily be able to use an M1 Carbine to defend herself at home. Try buying a Carbine in New York State today.

He lied on the forms.

The Sutherland Church shooter also lied on his forms.

Same lack of follow through by law enforcement with charges filed and mental issues on both.

Autism was not this kid’s problem he had a mental illness of another sort all together. Autism does not lead to domestic violence cases in which you have police intervention at home more than 30 times over a seven-year peroid. Nor does autism cause you to make threats and break numerous other laws.

This kid was obviously very mentally Disturbed and should have been in an institution.

Unfortunately the mental health system of this Florida school failed to put him there. Just as a legal system failed to hold him accountable for his illegal death threats for which he was merely expelled not prosecuted or disarmed as the law would require in any other state.

I remember those days. The first lie was in 1962 when Thomas J Dodd and Emanuel Cellar called for handgun only registration. “Long guns will not be affected!” they said.

Then came the call for All gun registration.
Then bans on foreign handguns and 5 shot bolt action rifles.
then bans on “Saturday night specials”.
Then bans on ALL handguns.

And again, 1981, handgun bans ..”Rifles and shotguns will not be affected.”
Then in 1986 came the call for rifle bans.

The ultimate goal has always been a total ban on gun ownership by the citizens, one little nibble at a time.

In 2014, the most recent USA data I could find:

660 persons were murdered by hand, feet, or fists.

248 persons were murdered by rifles.

The Sandy Hook shooter was austistic and maybe the AZ.

He should not been able to buy a gun with that history but it was all
kept quiet.

The mental health in Lib Broward is overwhelmed with foreign invaders now .

Chuck Todd is such a snarky punk, he’s unwatchable. I swear if I was in a conversation with him, I’d bash his face in with my fist—repeatedly. I hate him that much.

Otherwise I am a very nonviolent grandmother.

I think they were misdiagnosed as autistic. A great many people with a great many issues are.
I think it’s fairly obvious there was something else wrong with them.

“...there are three, four, five times as many crimes committed with a handgun than there are with a rifle.”

More than that.

True. I've worked with autistic children and adults. The mothers in the mass murder cases were probably taking advantage of privacy in therapy and lying to others about the diagnoses. It's very common. Autism seems better to them for reputation purposes. Either that, or there was malpractice.

I suspect it was actually the doctors themselves the schools that teach about mental health are not what they uses to be.
Much like the rest of the education system it has degraded significantly in effectiveness as it’s professorship have become more political.

A violent kid who has committed numerous assaults and threatens numerous other people over a period of time. Is not simply an autistic kid.

Autistic people have trouble understanding other people, not basic rule or right and wrong. They are not intrinsically violent, nor are they in any way predisposed to break rules.
