You are correct. The Bill Ayers of the educational system are evangelists for their religion of progressive elitist control. They are actively looking for converts within their captive audience of students. These progressive teachers get meaning in their lives by indoctrinating their students into their worldview.

I heard this school was for exceptional students. Some of the interviews with the students seem to validate this. Can anybody tell me how this shooter was able to attend this school?

Anyone know how much of that $12,000 per student is spent on buses and associated costs?

After deducting administrative costs and teacher’s salaries you mean. If you were to ask how much of that actually goes into the classroom for the student, then the answer is not a whole lot; not enough to buy books for many.

Figure the kid gets perhaps $10 in books and supplies such as they are, everybody else gets the rest - $11,990.

See school is expensive and there must be another property level to help the struggling administrators, teachers, and teachers’ unions, plus there are new facilities to be built, so cough it up wealthy property owner and pay for someone else’s kid’s education - they will be good Democrat voters in no time without smidgen of the 3 Rs to their name.

There is no way to teach uncomfortable truths in government schools. They are dangerous to the very idea of public schooling itself. You cannot package learning in a box and administer it to everyone according to a predetermined schedule. But by trying, you lose a whole lot more than you gain.

Gosh. Do you think you could provide facilities for and educate 30 little minds full of mush for $360,000 for a whole 9 months?

I don’t see how it is possible.

Many churches could do a great job of it with just a couple of months’ notice to hire teachers and buy materials.

Conservatives need to focus on getting students out of government schools instead of pretending that government schools can be made good.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Remember when getting below 70% was failing? What is it now?

Last I heard it's 55%.

If they actually do grades yet.

But don't quote me on that.

From what I have learned in many California schools anyway. Grading is on a curve. So beginning with the grade given to the best test score received to the lowest.

So if the best student accomplishes the old equivalence of 80% that student gets an “A”, and then graded thus downward. So a student getting the old equivalence of lets say 70% now is graded with a “B” and so on.

Old 60% is a C
Old 50% is a D
Old 40% is an F

When I went to school if I got 60% or less I was given an “F”and my parents got a letter from the teacher that if my grades did not improve I could be forced to retake the class the next year or go to Summer school.

Is it any wonder that graduates in so many parts of America cannot even read the diploma they are given?
