The country’s homicide rate of 20.5 for every 100,000 inhabitants was still below that of Brazil and Colombia, both at 27, and well below El Salvador’s 60.8.

Let's repeal the 2nd Amendment and confiscate American's weapons so we can be safe like the citizens of Mexico, Columbia, Brazil or even El Salvador.

The drug dealers are also targeting drug rehab centers so their money train doesn’t go away.

Several hit & run attacks on rehab centers last year killing hundreds in that nation.

Check out murder rate for tiny El Salvador. No wonder Pres. Trump wants to deport MS-13! And El Salvador does NOT want them back!

Mexicans are responsible for Mexico’s high murder rate.

And they have draconian gun laws there: no military type weapons, no firearms that shoot rounds over 30 caliber esp. .223 .... so how are those laws working out down there? And the liberal idiots here want more gun laws.

Says a lot about how a frakin’ government, namely the Mexican government, that is so corrupt and inept that it cannot wipe out the various drug cartels that have essentially taken control of Mexico territorially.

They steal the medication from those places?

These people need to be hunted and put down like the animals they are.

But wait- drugs are a harmless, victimless non-crime that should be unrestricted; some FReepers have said so!

I remember when Mexico had more knife murders than the USA had gun murders.

How’s those gun laws work for Mexico!

It wasn't the drugs that committed those murders - it was criminals who had the means and motive to kill due to laws against drugs. Just like killings related to the alcohol trade during Prohibition ... which don't happen today because that addictive drug is legal.

Fast and Furious where obama and Holder and the democrat party wanted hundreds and thousands murdered in Mexico and in America. Look at any democrat party run city.

Yes those libertarians who swear it would never bring violence.

Opposite - libertarians say drug bans restrict the drug market to criminals, giving them the means and motive to kill.

That is true. But if you legalize the crap then you create a whole new dependent class who have sniffed, shot and smoked their way to befuddled unemployability. At that point addiction (which is a behavior) will be declared a disease and the junkies will get a free ride for life on our dime. I object. I'd just as soon have them kill each other, and execute the dealers.

Highly doubtful to say the least - if someone before legalization was responsible enough to not use at all, they will after legalization be responsible enough to not use their way to befuddled unemployability.

I know of no evidence that alcohol addicts "get a free ride for life on our dime." (I expect they get some taxpayer-financed benefits, which they oughtn't ... but I also expect those benefits fall well short of " a free ride for life".)
