The F.B.I. received a tip last month from someone close to Nikolas Cruz that he owned a gun and had talked of committing a school shooting, the bureau revealed Friday, but it acknowledged that it had failed to investigate.
The tipster, who called an F.B.I. hotline on Jan. 5, told the bureau that Mr. Cruz had a desire to kill people, erratic behavior and disturbing social media posts, the F.B.I. said.
The information should have been assessed and forwarded to the Miami F.B.I. field office, the bureau said. But that never happened. On Wednesday, Mr. Cruz, 19, killed 17 students and teachers at his former high school in Parkland, Fla., law enforcement officials said.
The tip about Mr. Cruz appeared to be the second in four months, after another person told the bureau about online comments from Mr. Cruz that he wanted to become a professional school shooter.
Congress criticized the bureau for not preventing the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood in Texas, in which the gunman was known to the F.B.I. The bureau also knew of one of the two brothers who carried out the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013. And Omar Mateen, who killed 49 people in an Orlando, Fla., nightclub in 2016, had been investigated by the F.B.I. for months before the attack. That case was closed before the shooting occurred.

I hate to sound conspiratorial but is it plausible that the FBI did not pursue an investigation of this student to send a message to Trump? That message being, you take us down and we will take you down. Even it not, that may be the effect of the FBI failure.
In all fairness, they’re very busy trying to take down a president.
I talked to agents before and they looked at me as if I had 3 heads or were very confused. I am not surprised. They do not like when a plebe brings something up to them.
There also is the FBI being present at Garland knowing the terrorists were probably coming and said nothing and did nothing and just watched
The FBI is anti 2A. To push their agenda you bet they would let the kid strike. “Not our faults, the sheeple’s fault for not completely submitting their Iphones...
Makes them a domestic enemy of the Republic and they are Mattis problem now.
Easy enough to explain.
1. He was not Russian.
2. He was not a Trump voter.
My money is on Trump.
The FBI will live to regret this.
I would imagine that the FBI gets 10,000 tips a week. You can figure the statistical average, but I doubt if more than four-hundred of these get actual real coverage. Course, thirty-percent of the FBI folks are texting each other most of the day, and aren’t of any value to the organization.
Let us not forget about the geniuses in the FBI that did, what????
Go to your internet search engines and type in ... fbi entrapment terrorism cases Take a look at what the results are.
All of that, while we have an invasion of radical muslims buying parcels of land all over America to build their compounds/training centers and no one is saying sh*t about it. But let’s not worry about that

Nothing to see here, move along
Our crack FBI
Too busy committing treason to bother with annoying tips
FBI has blood on their hands. If the failure to act was deliberate, I.e. send a message to President Trump, they had better be ready for the retaliation.
TEAR DOWN THE FBI.
While I don’t think what you’re saying is completely out of that range of possibility, something like that would have to come from the upper levels of the FBI. You average agent, working in a field office isn’t thinking anything like that. They have kids that go to those schools.
The agents on the street are probably more like pretty much everyone on FR, you, and me. When you start climbing the ranks, that’s when things change but then again, you start to see who the “real guys” are and who the McCabe’s, Strzok’s and Priestap’s are. They are the asskissers, backstabbers, and snitches that want to climb the ladder to get the power. They aren’t the guys you take to serve a warrant to take down a robbing crew from MS-13, armed with full auto AKs.
I think a more plausible explanation is, a lazy agent working his/her assignment on their path to retirement that does the bare minimum just waiting to fill out the paperwork ... the case wasn’t sexy enough for them, so they closed it out to save the world with the next one ... hates the world ... hates the Bureau because they don’t appreciate all the hard work that they did 5 years ago ... pissed that their health insurance contribution went up $20 a month ... they’re an alcoholic ... got caught cheating on their wife/husband ... getting a divorce ... kid got caught selling dope at school .. has a gambling problem ... is under investigation for something so they do the bare minimum ... the list goes on and on and on.
I’ve worked with quite a few of them over the years and they have been the farthest thing from being against the 2nd Amendment. I will, however say, that they also think that because they are the FBI, that no one is better than them on the range, etc. But, you also won’t see them at a weekend USPA/IPSC match either, getting their asses handed to them in the process by some guy who is an IT manager or plumber, that aren’t “armed professionals”.
It’s the men and women that start bucking for promotions and to climb the ladders. Those are the ones that are Anti-Everything, as long as it marches to the beat of the liberal, SJW drum. They’re no different than all the liberal, progressive police chiefs and police administrators that have taken over law enforcement in this country.
They are so political now they are paralyzed. The kid may want to use the girls room, be transgender, or suffer from peanut allergies, bullying, low self esteem, have Mexican parents who voted for Hillary, or may just have that Wal Mart stench about him that we hear the FBI detests.
Names please!!!!
Any consequences other than reassignment?
Mass shooter kid to usher social change the deep state wants?
Or.......
An Ellian Gonzalez SWAT assault?
"I'll take the Gonzalez play for $500, Alex"
Yes! There are many in the FBI that need to go.
