The right to self defense, in the form of gun ownership, is not granted by the Second Amendment of the U. S. Constitution.
Rather, it is one of those “certain unalienable rights” that our nation’s founders recognized as being inherent, with which we are endowed by our Creator. They understood that governments have no rights, only powers granted to them by the people. So the government can never grant rights to people that are unalienable.
The Second Amendment is a limit on the government power. Many people are agitating to either eliminate the Second Amendment or redefine it to have the same effect. Even in the absence of the Second Amendment, we still have an inherent, unalienable right to self protection. And that means gun ownership.
Okay, then there are a few amendments I would like to limit as well.
There are to parts to the 2nd Amendment. Actually three
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, (”the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”)
What the 2nd amendment says is that nobody can limit your rights to have any kind of firearm or ammo, or clips etc...
