Maybe he did not like being labeled as Hispanic based on his ADOPTIVE father’s surname. There is no reason to suppose he had the same ancestry or ethnic background of his adoptive parents.

Ok, found it myself. Cruz is the adoptive father’s name. Brother’s name is Zachary, so again, not Hispanic. Adopted mother, Lynda, with a cousin named Kathie Blaine, doesn’t appear Hispanic, either. Barbara Kumbatovic is her sister in law so that would mean Kumbatovic is the adoptive mother’s maiden name. So, yeah, that teacher is nutso.
